i am building my own first 1000 yd br gun. yes it is being done mostly by me to keep costs down.
i will be using a one pc 20 moa base and want to know if an aluminum alloy is acceptable or should i go to steel for strengh ?
it will be a 17 lb gun in 300 win mag and 200 plus or minus bullets at close to 3000 fps...

will aluminim handle this or just go to steel ??

thanks

Weight should not be an issue so I would use steel. Good luck with the project.

I like the Farrell base, and they do make one with 20moa built into it. Not cheap, but great quality

Mike which action are you using?
If weight is an issue use aluminum and don't worry at all.The steel bases like Ken Farrel makes weigh about 8 ounces.
