Why did you change from your hw100 to a fx royale? I also have a hw 100 in .177 and I have been watching your shooting scores. I am a newbe at airguns but shoot br50 with a custom .22. Any comment on your hw 100 pro or con would be appreciated. My practice range is outside and my scores run from 218 to 238. I guess I am wondering if I am shooting the hw 100 to its best ability and should buy another airgun. Congrats on your latest score.

Dennis,

I was looking at getting a Rapid or Airwolf. I happened to call Airguns of Arizona the day they returned from the NRA show where the Royale was "introduced". I had been following talk about it on and off for the last year and specifically liked that it was going to have the new smooth twist barrel Ben Taylor advocated for. He also had some input on the development (Ben is the ben in TheoBEN of rapid fame) of the rifle and you can see the Rapid in the Royale :)/
Once I heard how well people at the show thought they shot I decided to save some money and buy one vs getting a rapid and spending more on adding a quickfil or the airwolf.
The best I have done with the HW is hi 240's indoors and low 240 outside )with plenty of 220-240 outside hehe). I think it takes a few thousand shots at least to settle down. It frustrated me because every once in awhile it would just throw out a shot in the black that I couldn't explain.
With the Royale I shot my 3 best targets ever after shooting about 20 shots across a chrono just to see what pellets hit the speed I wanted. I then put a new scope on, took 3 shots to zero scope then shot the best I have done in a over a year. That's no break in, no cleaning between targets just refill to 200 bar and fire.
I guess with the HW I always thought I could break the 10 ring but didn't know where. With the Royale I feel like I will always be on the bull or cover part of it.

Thank you for your reply.

Your reply was what I expected. I'm in the same boat as a theoben or airwolf. I will continue to watch your scores and will probably order a fx royale. Again thank you very much.
