Hi all, I'm very interested in rimfire Bench Rest shooting for both myself & my son who would be jr. class.

My question is about competing in Sporter class if the weight is a maximum 8.5lbs with scope would I be able to run a CZ453 Varmint in this class? or would I have to run a CZ453 American sporter barrel?

my understanding the CZ453 Varmint is 6.840lbs. & the CZ453 American is 5.9lbs
Leupold scope are just under a 1lb. plus the weight of the rings.

Ara?

Looks like you are referring to the ARA sporter rules? If so the varmit should make weight ok. The IR 50/40 rules are different. 7.5 lbs. max. There you'd be tight on weight I would think?
I think others prefer the 452 though & hopefully will chime in as to why.
Hope this helped.

most likely going to shoot postal as there are no Rimfire Benchrest clubs in my area.

I was looking at USBR or ARA both are 8.5lbs just wasn't sure if Sporter class would allow varmint barrels & if a CZ452/3 varmint would make class.

I don't own a CZ 452/3 but was looking at buying a couple for myself & my son. I have located a new CZ452 varmint but was thinking the trigger on the 453 would be better.

I think that as long as it makes weight they'll let you shoot. Check the rules of the organizations on the homepage.

I guess what I'm asking is can A cz452/3 varmint make weight of 8.5lbs with a scope & rings?

Yes you can make weight

A few years ago had one shot well, completion got tougher and moved up in equipment.........
Its an excellent starter gun in a pure factory class until new Coopers and Annies come along............
or it goes to full blown competition.
