I am a long time varmiter, hunter, paper puncher that wants to start the benchrest game. I have been looking through catalogs and the internet looking at all types of front rests as well as shooting sleds. My main question is what is legal for competitions. I'm sure the rules varry some between the diferent classes and governing bodies. One in particular I'm curious about is made by Caldwell called the full length fire control rest. If your not sure what I'm talking about It can be seen at www.battenfeldtechnologies.com If you know the answer to whether or not this would be legal for competition I would appreciate it. If not if you could just refer me to where I can research the rules on this I would be greatful. Stinkeye

Front and rear rest can NOT be connected, you can find the rules on the IBS and NBRSA websites available on the homepage of this site. Steve

Except for the Unlimited class!;) The above Caldwell would be perfectly legal in that format.

Thanks to all that replied.

Thanks all that will influence my decision. I guess I'll go with something diferent than the fire control type rest. I should practice and get used to the seperate front and rear rests if that's what I'm going to be using durring any competition. I just thought the other one might also work well for varmint hunting and quick target aquisition. I guess it goes back to there only being one correct tool for every job.
