Quarantine Haircuts

Didn't want to clutter up the humor forum with this.

I too needed a haircut when we went into lockdown. I like my hair fairly long - I'm a former hippy of sorts. I have not had a barber I was comfortable with for 10 years. I used to cut my own using just scissors, but that didn't work well.

Last summer, I decided to grow a "Van Dyke" beard ("goatee" conjures up unattractive images). I got tired of trimming it with little scissors so I bought a Wahl's clipper system at Wally World. It comes with a bunch of attachments for different length results. The quarter inch attachement worked great on my beard so I thought I'd try it on my hair.

I decided to try the 1 1/4 inch attachment on the sides and back. It worked great. I pull up the hair on top and snip it to length with scissors. I wear a slick nylon windbreaker so the hair doesn't stick to me. When done I just sweep the floor.

I could have asked my wife to cut it, but we're getting along good now despite the isolation, so why risk conflict?

I can't see me paying for a haircut again. It actually looks better than the cuts I was getting at 20 bucks a pop. I may change my mind when things open up just because I know that barbers need income too.
 
I haven't cut my hair in some fifteen years. I am not a Hippie I just got tired of the high cost to go to the barber shop and it always blowing in my face if I stretched out the visits to far apart. I just brush it use a hair tie and I don't even realize it's back there anymore.
 
haircuts

My wife cut my hair before the quarantine. Its not too big a job anymore. Buzz it off about a quarter inch high about every two months and Im good to go. Im not as picky as I used to be and don't have the hair anymore. Doug
 
Haircut Issue

My wife used to cut my hair back in the day. She thought our local barber cut it too short The barbers name was Freddy and only cut it one way....short. I didn't really care and I was entertained in the process.
Freddy hunted bear and cougars and made a point of staying in shape because he had to chase and find his dogs. When one of his dogs got too old for this, Freddy would retire them to the barbershop to entertain his customers.
Haircuts were 4 bucks, and when Freddy went back to the register his dog would come to your chair for the money. The dog would take your 5 or 10 bucks and go back to the register and return with your change......how cool is that?
Freddy and his dogs are long gone, but he left a great memory with me and the other woods workers.

Back to the present. My younger than me bride is 76 and a little shakey with the scissors. I'm really afraid she could poke me in the eye and that is the issue. I could end up with a pony tail.

If you were to grow one getting a hair cut would be a none issue. That is if you can take the heat from your family and friends for awhile but it would also soon pass.
