PSL question

I just downloaded the traget PDF from his website.

If the printed size is the actual size then that will be the smallest 10 Ring and the largest X out there. The 10 Ring looks to be about 5mm. Could this be correct?

I show it to be 11X17 paper...look at it this way, it's best edge scoreing 8>)

Dan and I measured it at my office.

The X dot (100) in the center is .059". exact
The white ring (50 ring) is .307". exact
The blue ring (25 ring) .575". exact

These are correct. That is about the size of it.

I watched Dan shoot a 2300 indoor in my building. Four shots not touching the center dot. If it had of been a 50/50 target, it would have been a 250 with 21 X. It was the only target shot for score and, being indoors, he took only about 5 minutes to shoot it. It is a fair target and all will be on equal footing with it. Although I am not in his league, I might shoot in the one in Waco just to say I was there in the first year.:)

Does anyone know the real size of this target?
The PDF along with Bill's discription & numbers are not adding up.

Doug,
The printed target will not be the actual size. Don is correct. The targets are on 11x17 paper. It is best edge scoring. Touch the dot for 100. Completely take out the dot for an X. Similar to how USBR scores X's.

According to Joe Haller, the IR 50/50 target would require a 25 shot group of .255 to be a 250 25X. That is .224 for bullet plus .031 for the size of the dot. The ARA target would require a 25 shot group of .276 for a 2500. That is a 100 ring at .500 minus .224. The PSL target would require a 25 shot group of .283 for a 2500. A 2500 25X on the PSL would be a 25 shot group of .165. The USBR target would require a .124 25 shot group for a 250 25X.

So, the PSL target is slightly easier than the ARA for a 2500. .276 vs .283

I hope this makes since. Joe Haller has an excellent graphic for the comparing of targets, but I can not get it posted here. If someone could please post that graphic, it would help everyone understand. A picture is worth 1000 words.

Bill,

I have the 50 ring at .307, but I agree the 100 is .059.

So, a 50 would be a group size of .531. That is .307 + .224 = .531

I stand corrected. James

sounds like a lot of fun, but if you shoot your first couple targets good you may as well put on your traveling shoes James how long does ittake you to drivehere to n.c.?

James,
You are right the dot is 100, but too help with tie breakers we call it an X if you take out the entire dot.

Touch to dot it is 100
Completely take out dot it is a 100X

Thanks for the graphic Husker

Husker,

I respectfully disagree with the group size to get a 250 on a 50/50 target.:)

I believe the ten ring is about .25" in diameter. Wouldn't you add .25" and .224" for a total group size of .474"?

I see nothing wrong with the rest of the examples and that is a great show of examples.

Bill,

The graphic Husker put up was made by Joe Haller, and it is showing what it would take to shoot a 250 25x. A 250 0X would be what you are talking about.

By the way, I do not believe a 250 25X has ever been shot in competition.

If my co-pilot drives as much as she did last time, I drive 15 hours and she drives 2 hours. Gary, glad to see you are doing so well. I hope to see you at the Nationals. James

I am corrected, thanks. I missed the X part.
