As of this morning, my Grandson, Chris Hillert is officially a Marine. They had an Eagle, Globe and Anchor ceremony at 9 am (California time) and then a Warriors Breakfast. So a group of his mothers co-workers joined her at Ihop for their own Warrior's Breakfast at the very same time as Chris was having his breakfast!

PS: I know this doesn't belong here, but Chris got his start in BR50 and ARA.

This most definitely belongs here as long as our country is the land of the free and the home of the brave. We share your grandfather's pride in Chris.

Thanks for sharing.

I think this is a very appropriate place for things like this.

Fred...

I agree with Ken, I know you, Dorothy, Polly and Authur are all very proud. Congratulations Chris.....

Thank you

Thank you for posting the picture Fred. This brings back memories of 40 years ago. I appreciate all the service our fine, young men and women are giving to this country. May God bless and keep your grandson safe.

Thanks to all.

Polly and Chris' brothers are headed out west to attend his offical graduation next Friday. Maybe before she leaves, she came print out this thread so Chris will see how many of his friends suport him. They will be coming back home where he can visit for a few day before he has to report for the second phase of his training. I'd tell you what it is, but then I'd have to snuff you out. God bless all of you for your continued thoughts and prayers.

Good job Chris

This is a refreshing break from the recent posts on the Forum.

I've known Chris for many years, since he was just a little punk kid. Now, I guess I'll have to be careful about calling him that. I knew he could do it. He has the tenacity, even overcoming a knee injury while in training. He went in about 125 pounds and now, I understand, is up to about 150. Probably all those jelly donuts in his footlocker.

I've been babysitting his Suzuki SX-750 motorcycle while he's gone. He left the key so I could start it from time to time and keep the battery charged. Yeah, right! Does anyone know how to run the miles back on a digital odometer before he gets home next week?

Congratulations Chris.

The reason guys like us get to shoot is that guys like that go and serve, appreciate it.

Fred,
Good post. You have every right to be proud of this young man. God bless him and protect him, and tell him we all appreciate his service.

One of many

Kent and all. What we must remember, that Chris is but one of many that are dedicating part of their lives to protecting the rights of the world. Not just the United State of America. Every free country, depends on the dedication of our troops, so that we remain a free society. These brave men and women, should be in our prayers every minute of the day, that they will be safe and return to their family to enjoy the fruits of their labor wh.en the time is right. God bless our troops and God Bless America. Thanks again for the phone calls and the many wonderful comments.

Fred:

I would like to add my complements to You, to Dorothy, to your family and that fine young Marine grandson or yours. As Americans we can all be proud of the service the Marine Corp has contributed to our freedoms.
