Proper bench technique

What is the proper bench technique for a springer? Should the front rest be under the end of the forearm or closer to the balance point? Should I hold the rifle tight? I have a Beeman 1073 switch barrel, and the 17 barrell is on it now, and it seems erratic at 10yds. (Like inch groups)

Every gun is different but my experience has been that most like a balance point hold as soft as you can with good follow through.

In fact is one of the least accurate new aiirguns I've come accross in quite some time!

Now, I DO have some good shooting springers though, and I find most shoot best when rested on a big soft foam pillow that supports a good bit of the forearm from near the trigger guard forward. I have only had a few sporter type springers shoot decent (to me, decent springer accuracy is sub-half inch five shot groups at 25yds) from a normal benchrest type front rest with sandbag ... no matter WHERE I positioned it.
 
Tried everything

I took the scope off and went to iron sights and it was better (sights are on the barrel), but still won't shoot for beans. It's for sale, cheap.
Looks like the pneumatics are the way to go if you want to hit what you are aiming at. Are there any pneumatics out there that have decent power?
