Programmer 200 question and request

Received my Programmer 200 today to mount upon my Anshutz Super Match 54 but still have another few days for the Posa-Mount bases to arrive. So can't play, just yet.
Question: The range-graduated ring (with the range increments 50', 25-50-100-200 Yards) has about 1/16" fore and aft play that can be taken up by a combination of using the the forward compensator ring and the lock ring aft. Is the described movement a normal characteristic with this scope?
Request: If one of you out there has a set of instructions for the Programmer model and would be willing to copy the necessary pages for me, I would be very happy to send in return, an appropriate amount of postage stamps, or a few US $ for your trouble/postage cost. If so, please send a private message.
Oh yeah, no end caps either. I figure I can find some photo equipment caps to fit the thing. unless one of you knows of a better source/solution.

Well, the Programmer, like all Unertls had..................

steel lens covers. You may find some on e-bay if you watch, diligently. There are also people there who have all those manuals they copy for sale, and one guy does them on heavier paper, so they last really well. Have fun with your new scope!!

Been keeping tabs on e-bay and a few other sites recommended to me for Unertl stuff. Nothing yet like an instruction manual. Many about bases...(the blue pamphlet on e-bay in three places). I can probably figure it out using Programmer info from "the Classic Unertl" site. However, I would like to know as much as possible about the scope and whether or not the ring situation I described is normal.

I forgot to answer your question on the first...................

go-around!! The Unertl, like the BALVar 24 and some other 'scopes of the period, actually moved the forward lens fore and aft, by using the range-marked ring and the "lock" ring to keep the lens in place after it was moved or adjusted to the desired position; there is nothing wrong w/the scope, its just the nature of the beast from that time. As you change from one range to another, I try to keep them fairly close to each other as I'm adjusting, ie, not taking one all the way out, then moving the other. You'll have fun with that scope. I've never used the Programmer, but I kick myself for not picking up a brand-new BALVar 24, for the wholesale price, the year they stopped making them, but, my head was in another place at the time.
 
I appreciate your diagnosis on the Programmer. However, I sent it in today to a repairman who is/was said to be on the original Unertl payroll. I asked him to take a look at it and bring it back to original (internal) specs, as I was not happy with the scope in the condition in which I received it, from a specialty shooting supply vendor "Out West." Now, I did not ask the right questions when I said yes to the vendor's price, so I learned a lesson. But, if the gentleman from the "Midwest" can bring it back to original condition so I can focus and use the thing, I'll be quite happy. I may be entirely out to lunch on my assessment, but I have trouble believing that that amount of "slack" in the adjustment rings is normal. Please do not be offended, I am only trying to get back into the game and never owned this piece of equipment--you may be absolutely correct. Thanks for your insight.
