Since Scoring has been beat to death on Kathy's thread I thought I would start another!
Dan emailed me on Monday asking if I had a Scoring Program that would work for the PSL and all I could say was - Probably Not.
So after three days of work I sent Dan a Beta Copy that should work.
I have put a copy on my website in hopes that some people would play with it and get back to me if they find any glitches or suggestions on how it could be improved.
At the same time I did a lot of updates on the Basic Scoring program.

Please Email me with any problems or suggestions.
Thanks

I know it is semantics, but I call what you provide a record keeping program, not a scoring program. It is a valuable tool and all us match directors are indebted to you.
There still needs to be a better tool for scoring a target. Since most of us are not capable of making shots that are clearly a given score;there is a need for a better way to determine the number value of a specific shot. Fortunately, the majority of shots are able to be assigned a number value without precision measurement. Irregularities in ink placement(or bleed) along with abnormal tears in the paper make a mockery of precise scoring for the tweeners.
There are some heated discussions in the present formats. There is nothing but pride or a piece of artificial wood at stake in these. I can only imagine what questions will come up with real money on the line(pun intended).
With a little applied mathematics, it would be easy to determine what distance from the center of a bullet hole to the center of a target is required to be a specific number value. A precision engraved overlay along with a center defining plug and a set of calipers would eliminate the hassles. I admit it would be somewhat slower than eyeballing a plug but is only needed on the "too close to call" shots. Ties go to the shooter.
That technique is used in other shooting sports. The fact that it has not been used in the 22 game does not make it a non starter. I'll probably get as many licks as the poster on the other thread but what the heck. It is too cold to shoot

They have been using such devices for many years in Muzzleloading matches, They are not expensive.

In all the matches I know of, if it has a 1.5" 25-ring, it is a 200 yds german ring target. The one you posted looks like the ASSRA version. Is it? They are also printed by the WSU and the NMLRA though both of these groups use a deep red which helps for iron-sight shooters. Black is usually on the reverse side of the ASSRA targets but not always.

The 100 yd target is 3/4" for the 25 ring.

Update:

Oh well now this thread is being converted over to the New 100 & 200 yard thread.

If anyone is interested I have done some more updating on the PSL and Basic scoring programs along with fixing an Excel 2000 error.
I guess I will quit because there does not appear to be any interest in this "Record" keeping aspect of this sport. :(
