Problems with Re#17

Shooting 70gr Nosler BT out of my 6x284 57.5grs just barely produced 4,000 fps . 5 shot group fired out of a 26" HART almost blew out to .250 at 100 yds. Perhaps sells will subside and the "wonder powder" will go by the way side.

Wow, I wouldn't use it anymore. Why dontcha just pack it all up and send it to me. I'll dispose of properly for ya.;)

Please do not take any RE17 to the landfill. It is environmentallly unsound to do so. Some lesser shooter will make delusional use of it.

Gonna try it in my ?

270WSM maybe today depending on the weather. Those 130 Hornady SST bullets look cool. Been told I need to jam those into rifling to get them to shoot well.

Get what back ? Never had it .

Using what gauge?

So put more 4350 in....... you can get your 200fps back.

Can't you?

56.5grs of H4350 70 gr Nosler BT = 3750-3800 FPS along with stiff bolt lift.
57.5grs Re#17 3,970-4008 FPS 5shots .237 group size no pressure signs.

sweet! :)

In my limited testing I haven't found this to be the case. So the RL-17 is really giving you a gain in vel.

Yes also shooting a 90gr Nosler BT.

Shooting 90gr Nosler BT to a lesser extent did I see this gain in velocity. I have pushed H4350 with 87gr V-Max to high 3600s but not with out pressure signs and that was with Lapua brass. 53.5grs of H4350 was absolute max charge.A comfortable charge was 52.0 grs of H4350 for a 3,525 AVG. With Re#17 53.8 produced avg of 3612. I did load as high as 54.5 but didn't have a chronograph.I also had stiff bolt lift and this is with Norma brass. Accuracy was well under 1/2 MOA at 100yds. I would guess that load was 3,700+ . Just not comfortable with stiff bolt life. The area I have to shoot the 70gr Nosler at average 4,000 FPS is lethal on yotes out to 600 yds.

Limited experience with Re-17

I have tried Reloader 17 in several different cartridges. I have noticed the velocity boost but not seen the accuracy I was getting with H-4831, IMR-4350, and VV160. I felt VV550 and Re-17 were about equal in velocity. I have not shot Re-17 in hot weather. I know the VV550 is temperature sensitive. Where I have been getting groups of sub .5 with H4831 and others I have been getting 1." to 1.25" groups with Re-17.

Maybe the bullet you .....

Maybe the bullet you were using couldn't take the added velocity ? I found out that in my 6x284 Hornady V-max's don't like velocity above 3,550.
