today i bought 2000 winchester sm pistol primers from a dealer from out of town when i was traveling, when i got home and opened the boxes they were marked sm rifle. They are green colored on the inside like my other winchester sm rifle primers from home, and also checked my sm pistol and they are red colored inside, would i be safe to use these as they are marked for sm rifle. Sorry about long story but i know i can get help here thanks jim

as small rifle, yes

Small rifle primers are dimensionally identical to small pistol. Many .38 Superauto shooters use them exclusively in hot pistol loads because the tougher cups don't pierce as easily. It takes a harder firing pin strike to ignite the rifle primers, and some pistols don't have it.

Load up a few and try them.

I dont mean to hijack your post but your topic heading is appropriate for my questions, so i do apologise. Its sounds like you got your questions answered anyway. Whats the general opinion of rem 7,1/2 benchrest primers for a 6ppc? I have 1000 of them and i am starting to get low on my federal so i was hoping i could use these without any trouble. I have never used them ever so i dont know if they are a hard primer or a soft primer or whatever. I have a nice used ppc that i use for club level matches and i would like to use these Remington's for that purpose. I am sure they will be fine, but like i said i have no experience with them. thanks and again sir i hope i havent intruded on your post. Thanks Lee

I've been using 7.5s for 3 years and winning on a local level. I like them better than all the others. :)

I shot Rem 7-1/2/s for many years in my PPC's . Yes they are a harder cup than the Fed 205's. I have however experienced difficulty using them in one of my BAT's
