Primer Question.....

I seemed to have found a small local supply of primers, and have a choice of Remington 9 1/2's or Winchester LR primers. I would like to see what y'alls opinion is of which to buy, or does it matter with the current supply. I'm not a benchrest shooter, but we do hold a monthly 1000 yd. shoot and would like to make the best choice possible. Any and all opinions appreciated.

Thanks, Med

It's my impression that primer brand is not all that critical, and less so if you are not really shooting benchrest rifles.

I have always used CCI myself.

When you get to the shoot, using whatever primers are ready to your hand, you might inquire of the other shooters what primers they are using.

Winchester. Not a big deal, but better than Rem in most people's opinion.

If you don't buy the Win and they have 2000 or more, I am interested.

I have used 'em both, and.........

both have given me excellent results, as long as you work up the load. That said, I didn't find much, if any difference in the charges they worked with, but that was me, in my gun. Your results may differ. HTH;)

I'd go with the ones I thought I would have the better chance of finding the next time I needed to buy.

Buy all you can get your hands on of both. Work up your loads with each, the best will show up. At the least you will have data for both brands.
