primer not being struck in the center

My brother-in-law has a Ruger Mark II 7mm Rem Mag. I was looking at his cases last night and noticed the firing pin indentation is not in the middle of the primer. Is this something that needs to be fixed? This rifle is used only for hunting.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

This is common among factory rifles and not something that can be fixed unless you're willing to rebarrel with a tight-chambered tube.

Or, possibly the firing pin hole in the bolt needs to be rebushed. This is a common fix done by many gunsmiths.

The problem will not cause safety problems but may cause reliability problems since you may occasionally get misfires.

Safety issues? Now, if you are getting charged by a big, mean, wounded Grizz...
