Primer Age?

I have inherited a large number old older CCI rifle primers in good condition in the older red labeled boxes with the smaller boxes having the primers in bulk 10 piece rows/ 10 to a box. Does anyone know the age of these primers? I also have a few older green labeled boxes.

I bought these in 1983 +/- 2 years.

I have some sm pistol primers (same boxing) as TomD's, sales reciept says Aug "81 price is marked 8.49 per K x 10 bought from Scheels. Still use'm if I'm waiting for new (work great).

You keep sales receipts from 1981???

When I bought them the sales clerk taped the reciept to 1 of the cases, I just never took it off . On a ordered purchase I just write the dates/price on the cases.

I have a box of that size/shape from 80's from Long's Drugs.

I'm using them to make some .357 Mag with new 140gr FTX and Power Pistol.

I've got some with that packaging from the late 70's or early 80's I think. For a long time I had some with a sticker showing $0.69/C in the 70's from Payless Drugs in Seattle.

The CCI primers of that era seemed to be large in diameter, so I've saved the ones I have for primer pockets that have gotten lazy and large. :D

Primers

Just happened to find this post about the primers. If I could post a picture... I don't know how to do that, I would let you see the boxes of small primers by CCI. I have them marked when they were bought in 1966. I have been using them for several weeks and have not had a misfire as of yet.

Whew! I was imagining your house, with room after room filled with filing cabinets full of meticulously cataloged and stored grocery store receipts from 1984 or whenever.

What are the odds. This last weekend I had someone hand me a packet of old CCI small rifle primers in the same style of packaging.

They look like they were made yesterday. It will be interesting to see how they go.
