Pre A mod 52 Bolt removal????

I have never been able to remove the bolt from my pre A mod 52. I have "B" and "C" models and have no problems with removing the bolt from them. I am very, very careful when cleaning the barrel but having to clean it from the muzzle is getting pretty old and I sure don't want to damage the crown. Anyone have any ideas that I could try? I would appreciate any help.

Thanks, Gerald

I remove the peep sight and squeeze the trigger on my pre A, bolt slides right out.

There is a cover plate attached to the top half of the receiver from the breech back to about an inch and a half past the end of the receiver. It is stamped "A. L. Darkow". The peep sight is attached to the cover plate. I removed the 2 screws that hold it to the receiver, thinking that it may have something to do with my not being able to remove the bolt but I could not get it off. It was made to conform to the receiver and seems to be stuck on there. If all else fails I may try to pry it off but I don't think it is holding the bolt.

Thank you for your reply

Try this

Open bolt. Then while pulling the trigger, close the bolt. While still holding the trigger, open the bolt and pull staight back. Make sure the safety is off as well.

It Worked!!!!!!!!

Thank you Fred, after following your instructions I was able to remove the bolt. Now I don't have to worry any more about damaging the crown of the barrel, and can clean the bolt. I appreciate your advise very much.

Thanks, Gerald
