In belted magnum cases, or even the wsm's, which powders do you like the best? Also in your opinion which is the cleanest burning?
Choices of H1000, H4350, H4831sc, or the IMR copys.
V-V N-160 or N165.

Thanks in advanced.

Difficult question. Each caliber and bullet weight can call for a different powder.

There are no pat answerers.

The VV powders like N 165 are excellent, FOR SOME APPLICATIONS. They like higher pressure burns and when all is right will produce Velocity with less barrel heating.

Some of the Hodgen powders have a larger "tune" range. They sometimes burn much cleaner over a wider pressure range.

Slower burn rate powders seem to burn the throat area faster.

Some of the other powder like the Norma MRP are very good in some applications.

You may want to also consider RL-25 and/or RL-22. I used RL-25 for two years in my 7WSM, until I moved to Las Vegas in May, 2007. The load shot great with low ES (below25), and low SD (8.5 or lower), but it was a touch too high pressure for the desert heat. As a result, I am current ly using H1000, less pressure but also less velocity.
