Potential new IBS world record

Flying Fish Fundamentals
Today at 100 yd HV, Roy Oines, already a multiple score World Record holder, set a potentially new record single group during the Iowa State Group 2 gun. He shot a .047 that is on it's way to the records committee as I write this.

Best part of the group is it is NOT a 6PPC. Not a 30BR. It was shot w/ a full on HBR cartridge, 30x47, in his HVFS rifle.

And Roy is just a damn nice guy to boot!
 
Congrats, Roy!

All of us that shoot with Roy can attest to how good he is. He's proven many times how good the 30X47 is... in both his Hunter gun and his HV gun. And now with record sized groups...amazing. :)

Roy also set the new 100 yd. range record at Webster City this season with his Hunter gun at 250-20X. :cool:

Yep......Roy should take a brown paper lunch sack full of crumpled up $100's to his 'smith ;), buy him lunch, a cold beer and send him on a Carribean vacation.

Al, I'm sure [smith] REO's was smilin' - he looked at that round little hole for sveral minutes, as the clocked ticked down to the cease-fire!;) From my perspective, through a spotting scope, when Roy's target came into view, my first though was, "it's the best group down there - but, it's probably only one or, two - how many does he have left?" . . . when, though the conditions looked good, and no additional 'shots' were appearing on either his record, or sighter, I looked over to see what Roy was 'thinking' . . . his bolt was out, and he was just staring through the scope, at that perferctly round looking thirty caliber hole!:eek:;)

Yep! REO has built some mighty fine shooting rifles! His 30X47's can out shoot most all of us. They just plain SHOOT!! I did over hear him jokingly tell a friendly rival that he was going to get out the “BIG HAMMER” on Sunday. Roy is the class of “CLASS ACT"
AL. Roy's Webster City BVI range record is 21X. The old record was 20X from long ago. Mayhaps 2001??? Was the first or second year matches were held there.

from 2002, which was the first year there. First match was May of 2002. last match in Mason City was Sept. of 2001, weekend after 9/11
