Please note that the July NBRSA group match scheduled for Holton, Michigan will be held on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of July as listed in the NBRSA magazine.

The course of fire for the match will be Sporter 100 and Sporter 200 on Friday July 2nd, with LV 100 and HV 100 on Saturday and HV 200 and LV 200 on Sunday. There will be a recognized Two- and Three-gun winner for the match, with the Two-gun being shot in the normal days of Saturday and Sunday.

It was stated by me at the June 19th and 20th group match at WWCCA that the date would be moved back one day. But, after discussion with the Holton range management and concern that more confusion would occur by moving the date from what has been shown in the magazine, the decision has been made to keep the dates for the match at Friday July 2nd through Sunday July 4th.

It is recognized that we may lose some shooters because of the first day being on Friday the 2nd. But, the possibility of shooters showing up expecting to shoot a match on Friday outweighs the loss of competitors due to the scheduling.

The reason for this scheduling mistake is primarily due to the change in the benchrest program management at the range between the original scheduling meeting in 2009 and the start of the 2010 year, with the July date determined in the scheduling meeting. At the date of the scheduling meeting in 2009 it was thought, in error, that the holiday would be celebrated on Friday the 2nd as opposed to Monday the 5th.

Please show up and shoot the match at Holton, Michigan in July. With the grass coming in after the range improvements made this year you will see a very competitive and enjoyable place to shoot. The Holton Gun and Bow Club has great camping facilities and the range has great meals and amenities.

If you can’t make it for the Three-gun starting on Friday the 2nd, please try and make it for the Two-gun competition on Saturday and Sunday. The good thing is that you still have Monday the 5th to spend doing other things (or stay and camp at the range).

If there are any questions, please contact either Bob Scarbrough, Jr. the Holton Benchrest Director at (231) 638-6775 or Joe Krupa the NBRSA Eastern Region Director at (313) 247-4344.

Thanks and please consider this and all of the remaining 2010 benchrest competitions in the Eastern Region. You can see the schedule by linking to NBRSA website and clicking on the Eastern Region link.

Joe,

Your efforts to work with everyone involved in this mixed up date situation are much appreciated. I know you agonized and sought input from many in trying to work out the right thing to do.
Shooters in the Eastern Region should feel lucky to have such concerned directors as yourself, Hobie and others who try their best to do what is right for the sport and for the individual shooters.
I support your decision, and I greatly respect the effort to do what is best.
I guess that's why we pay you the "big bucks".

Sincerely,
Larry
