Please Help me get this strait

ok so I'm doing what i call research and I think i narrowed it down, so if i were to order a barrel for a .224, I'm really ordering a .223 rem because the new fire arms today the bullet diameter is .224, right? :confused:
 
Some older .22 Hornet's had barrels that were .223" but to the best of my knowledge all current .22-caliber centerfire rifles are at .224". That includes the .223, .225 Winchester, etc.
 
Thanks ReedG, now the next step is finding a used Remington .223, they are few and far in my area
 
trying to stick with a bolt action that i can build up from. The Remington seems to be a good choice for a starter because of the many after market parts that can go into it...the m305 is something i may consider down the road for a new toy, and that must really suck that the US cant import them because it looks to be a nice piece of iron
 
No i wasnt suggesting to get that over a 700 i was making a statement that as crazy as yalls laws are you can get some stuff we could only hope for.
