I'm looking for a sensible way to take care of this problem myself.
I am not worried about the warranty.

I have a new laminate stock for a Rapid action.
Stock fits tightly, flush against the rear of the receiver, not leaving any space for adjustment of the hammer spring cap.

Now, I need this to be a sub-12fpe rifle.

It is currently just over that limit. But, I can't turn the the hammer spring adjustment out.

So, I need to recess a space in the stock, to provide room to turn the hammer spring out. Of course, the stock only covers the bottom half of the adj. cap.

This is a laminate stock.

The recess needs to be 1/2 of a 7/8" circle, about 3/16" deep. Stock already has an allen wrench slot provided.

I believe this will be clear to those of you familiar with the Rapids. Hope so.

Looking forward to your ideas, suggestions.

Thanks a lot,
Dwight

Without doing cutting and sanding to the stock... Best check with Martin at Rapid Air Weapons. My Laminated Stock would not make weight for Bench Rest even if you get it to 12 ft lbs.

The barrels for 12 pounders have a smaller transfer port.

If you are going for FT not sure if there is a weight limit.

You could cut a link off of the spring in that case. Best to have the rifle angled up at the action end to remove the spring so that the striker does fall out. Some rifles have a small washer that can be removed for a slight reduction in velocity.

If you can get under 12 ft lbs out of the stock then the cutting the spring might work. There is a reason I am sure that both the Regulator and the transfer port are different for lower powers.

If you are just a few fps away try JSB 7.33 pellets.

You may be able to order a shorter spring if you want to go back to higher power. Call Martin before you move forward to see if you can get to 12 with what you have and if you can will you get the accuracy you want.

HI Bob, This is a new BM 500.

I just received it from Martin.

It was ordered, as a sub 12 fpe LV BR rifle. The laminate stock is skeletonized to make wt.

The rifle favors the JSB 8.4 gr. I'm glad it does. I would prefer to stay with a heavier pellet for outdoors.
It's shooting the 8.4s at 812fps. So, I just need to slow it down a little.

The reg is suppose to be set at 100 bar.

On a 2925 psi fill, It falls off the reg at 117 shots.

If I end up remedying the problem myself, I will probably clip the spring, as several others have suggested.

Thanks for your interest / response.

if you have not done the above you should get lower than 812.

I have a BM500 LW and put in a heavier spring as I could adjust under 11 ft lbs.

Hope you have the washer.
