This Saturday, August 29th, Pinnacle Mountain Fish & Game Club in Lyndeborough, NH will be hosting both an IR 50/50 3-Gun (.22 rimfire) and AGBR (air gun) benchrest matches.

The gate will be open by 7:45 A.M. with sign-in and bench drawings to immediately follow.

The first “Commence Fire” will be called promptly at 9:00 A.M. for IR 50/50

We will take a short break immediately following the conclusion of the IR 50/50 match to relocate and adjust the target stands at 25 yards, for lunch (not being provided), and to allow time for any and all new arrivals to sign-in, plus to draw benches for the AGBR match that will soon follow.

The first “Commence Fire” for AGBR should be called promptly at 12:00n, or as soon thereafter as possible.

Anyone and everyone is more than welcome to join in the fun. Keep in mind though that NO LUNCH will be provided, so you are on your own and will need to bring whatever works best for you. As always though there will be a good selection of soda available in the clubhouse refrigerator for a small donation.

If you need to contact me for whatever reason, please feel free to do so by either calling my cell phone at: 987-877-8482, or by emailing me at: dashattuck@gmail.com.

And please remember: we are well into DEER FLY & MOSQUITO SEASON @ Pinnacle Mtn., so don’t forget your bug spray!!!

See you on Saturday,

Dave Shattuck

I'll be there Dave. Looking forward to another chance at the Pinnacle MT. range. Hopefully we'll be graced with the divine presence of champion Penny Hadfield and her faithful (and accomplished) sidekick Al.....:D

Looking forward to seeing y'all.

Michael

Dave,
I still am in Maine but will be going home Fri to pick up my sporter and Airgun. Will be looking forward to seeing everyone.

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D ! :)

Penny and I will be there. I will be trying to redeem myself after my performance at the TM.

Tonto :)

Dave,
Pete and I are going to try to make it Sat. We've both got obligations that will run late into Fri. night, but if one of us is awake enough to drive Sat. morning, we'll be there. Probably won't stick around for Airgun, though....gotta make it home in time for the Tractor Pull at the county fair Sat. afternoon:D
Todd

Todd, I hope to see both you and Pete as it's sounding like we could be having a pretty good turnout. I just hope the heck that this little tropical depression that's supposedly heading up the East coast and getting here for sometime Saturday either stays far enough out to sea not to create any problems, or that it slows down enough to give us at least the daylight hours for shooting without having to deal with any 40 to 60 MPH winds (we'll be shooting our Air Guns in the afternoon, so that could make it quite interesting if it does come in during that). But, we'll see.

HURRICANE DANNY UPDATE

As of this noons New England Cable Network weather report it's looking more and more like we may be faced with the minor challenges of trying to keep everything dry while, at the same time, trying to keep the bullets out of the black.

What they're saying is that where we'll be inland along the fringes of the storm the winds from Hurricane Danny should only be howling around at a modest 35 to 45 MPH, instead of the 90 MPH gusting that will be happening out along the coast to our east, and the rain is supposed to be in the 3" to 5" range, most of which should be hitting the ground while we're in the process of shooting, so I guess we can count on getting everything a little more than wet.

Of course, if you look at the Weather Undergrounds forecast they're calling for us seeing light breezes blowing around at about 4 to 6 MPH with only a 70% chance of showers happening.

So, who do you want to believe?

Ah, but the good news is, the temps are only supposed to be in the high 50's to low 60's, so there's no way we'll be too hot! :D :D :D

More later,

Dave

Geez Dave,

We have had two really nice days for the last two matches...now Paul is joining us after being up Maine way and look what happens!   ;) :D

Al :)

Who do I WANT to believe? WeatherUnderground!!! Otherwise it's not looking real good for my first Pinnacle 250, is it?:(

Do you have rain covers for the target stands, Dave? I can throw some pieces of plywood, a screwgun and some screws in the truck if you don't. I think my covers for Salem are about the same width as your target stands. Just let me know.
Todd

Ahhh..just a minor challenge, an opportunity for us to excel... nothing can match the early season match at Holbrook -- cold driving rain and wind yikes.

Al, I like your analysis of the weather forecast and the movements of Paul in the benchrest circuit. Kinda makes ya wonder.

See ya'll Saturday, come rain or rain.

Best,
Michael

Todd,

If you remember, the way our backers fit into the stands is with about 1/3 of the height of the backer sticking up above the frame. Maybe I can make something up using some old backers tomorrow. At least that way they'll already have some drain holes in them.

Of course, if we get the bigger of the two blows I don't think anything will help, and we'll probably have to run cement blocks out as well to help keep the stands from blowing over???? How we'll keep the targets attached and not blowing away will be another thing all together.

And as for the wind flags, they're going to be a tough call for keeping them upright.

Gee, I can't wait for the afternoon session when we bring out the Puffguns!

And Todd, as for shooting your first 250 at Pinnacle, you know, that all illusive 250 that you've been waiting oh so long for? Well, I hate being the bearer of bad new my friend, but it just ain't gonna happen this time around unless the weather guys and gals have it all wrong, and the Weather Underground folks have it right.

And, you might as well bring along your Air Guns as well cause if the weather's any where near what they're saying it might be, I don't think you're gonna want to go sit out to watch no Tractor Pull at the County Fair either.

See you on Saturday,

Dave

Dave,
I forgot about the coroplast sticking up above the wood. I'll bring newspapers to stack the targets between instead. Anybody got a battery powered blow dryer?;)

We've got to look at the bright side....Your crow sized Pinnacle Mtn. mosquitos will be blown away by the hurricane and we can save on bug spray:D

Todd

Started the wood stove for the first time this morning so I guess summer is over.
Dave, I hope I draw a bench next to the wood stove. I did shoot in two matches at Capital City with no weather problems! I will bring my rain gear along with hip boots maybe even a boat in case the range floods.

AL, Will put the plow on the truck for the last shoot at Holbrook in case it's more than a dusting. If more than a foot will bring a couple of sleds to help with putting out the wind flags and target stands.

See you all Sat.

Paul

Paul,
You laugh, but you weren't at our last Pinnacle match when we had to drive through bumper deep waters in order to cross the parking lot on the way back to the range!
And as for bench drawing; I just hope I'm not the lucky soul who draws NUMERO UNO! In fact, I'll most likely closes bench #1.

As of this morning there's GOOD NEWS, and then there's BAD NEWS!
The Good News: we're not shooting down @ ~Hole in the Wall~ where the winds are supposed to be rivaling either side of 45 to 60ish MPH, and Danny never came together enough to gain full-blown Hurricane statis, but instead remains a Tropical Storm.
But, the Bad News: he'll be merging with two (yes, that's 2) other fairly large storms coming in from the west as he comes up the coast and will be at full-force right around the time he gets here, meaning probably less wind, but, most likely lots more rain!
WHOOPTIE-FRIGGEN-DO!

The Weather Underground still has us listed with 5 to 6 MPH breezes, so Todd, you may still be able to find that first 250 up on Pinnacle Mtn. But, they're also saying there's a 100% chance of THUNDER STORMS throughout the day, so who knows what we'll be dealing with, especially during our afternoon AGBR match.
Say, maybe I should drill a couple of drain holes in the bottom of my barrel shroud. What do you think?

All I can say is: LOTS OF NEWSPAPERS! WE'RE GONNA NEED LOTS OF NEWSPAPERS!
