Pin Hole in side of neck

I have been shooting the same cases each day and for the last
3 days I have had a bad flier , about 2 holes out. I inspected these case's
by eye and found nothing. Then looking with a Mag glass, I found a small
pin hole( yup that small) Soot parern was slightly different. I think it was
there when the case was new( 220 Lapua). How does such a small
hole trow a flier that far? any thoughts

hole on one side of neck, means neck is not as sealed at one spot, and thus the neck is not as round as the non-vented necks, the bullet does not enter as straight ???
maybe ?

Bob, interesting question, but you can't be sure the pinhole was a factor unless/until you fire the same cases a few more times and track what happens. Shoot the cases in random order, keep track of the order after they're fired, then compare the placement of shot # (pinhole case) to the others. Four or five groups should tell you plenty.

..........one would most likely have to index the pin holed case in the same position to see the effect. JMHO.......... Jan

I did fire that case once more, and it was out a similiar amount. I have seen
gas cutting from a steady diet of cracked necks so thats all folks. Its
funny that steel will gas cut and brass not
