Piedmont Gun Club is hosting a 600 yard bench rest match this Saturday, January 3, 2009. It is a "fun shoot" and not an IBS registered match. I expect money will be the prizes.

I have heard about all kinds of new guns and different stuff being built for this coming year, so it will be interesting to see who has their stuff in order. Rumor has it that there might be some "heavy" heavy guns on the benches this year, lot's of Dashers and BRX's. This is gonna be interesting so come on out and enjoy the fun.......Can't use the price of gasoline as an excuse now.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Fun Shoot at Piedmont Jan. 3 2009

Hi Larry,
i would like to join, but need to know how much ammo to bring for the match

thanks Michael Tjon

Tommy Williams sent me an e-mail saying they were going to shoot light and heavy classes. If that is the case, you will need 20 record rounds for each class, plus whatever sighters you shoot. I usually take 80 rounds and end up shooting 70 or 75 of them.

Let me invite you to the match. You will enjoy the competition. Most of the shooters there will help you if needed and will answer any questions you might have. I look forward to meeting you.

If you have thinking of shooting some 600 yard competition, this is the perfect shoot to come to! It is layed back and alot of fun! If you have any questions about what to do- there will be plenty of people willing to answer questions. If you are a first time shooter, you can have someone to even help you get sighted in and assist you while you shoot. Don't hesitate to ask! That is how we all got started- by asking the experienced shooters. I used to, and still do, bug them to death asking questions. That is how you learn. Come on out! Like Larry said on the round count, @ 75 should do you for both classes.
And fellows, bring your check books, I have alot of stuff I am selling. Need some money to take the kids to Disney this month. I have 6BR reamers, Jeff Fowler's personal Lyman scopes (30x), a Pre-64 M-70 in 257R, a 17lb Stolle Polar in 6.5-284, Royce Tolley's (2) record setting Hall actioned 6BR with 2 extra Barrels, and a LH Farley rest, etc.
See everyone tommorow! Samuel Hall

Good Choice of Clubs

I agree with sam, that is the best place to start. Most of the top shooters in the 600yd game come from there. Every time i have shot there, i have learned something new or a different way of doing it. Everyone is real friendly and will help you alot. The range is a good range to see what you and your gun are capable of shooting, without alot of other factor's effecting you. Once you have shot there a while, and you want to advance your skills as far as wind calling. Come on up to one of our 2 day shoots at Bridgeville DE. No dought you will have to call the wind up here at every match. Our season starts in Aug and runs thru March. Ask Joel Kendrick for some advise prior to coming up. He's the only one i can think of that has shot with us in the past from down that way. Hopefully you all are hosting Nationals this year, so i can make plans to shoot some regular matches prior to Nationals and to see friends there.
