Well I went out and shot today. It was in the 20's and it was so cold, the cartridges had to be pried out of the chamber, it was a real pain. It warmed up into the 30's and the gun started extracting.
The shooting bench had snow higher than the seat, so I had to clear the snow off and was shooting with my legs srreight out under the table. Add about a 15 mph cross wind and it was a really lousy day to shoot, but no way was I not going to shoot this gun.

For all the cold, snow and wind, it did pretty good.
After shooting I took it into the shop and lapped the bore with at least 10 more patches with JB Bore Shine on them, the patches came out black, I still have not got to good steel, there's still fouling in the bore.
I spent 2 hours last night cleaning the bore with regular JB and JB Bore Shine, it was pretty badly fouled.

One neat thing about the bolt in this gun is that it has 2 firing pins, one at the top of the cartridge, one at the bottom. Wish they would still make them like that, it's bound to help the accuracy.

Anyway, I sitting here posting with a wet butt from sitting in the snow, here's the pics.
I was more than pleased and think there is still better accuracy to be had. I was shooting Wolf MT. All shots were 5 shot groups @ 50 yards.

John, Time Precision RF actions have 2 firing pins - 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock. Several years ago I had a couple of them and I've tried them with both, only the 12, and only the 6 using the same ammo. I could never tell the difference in how they shot. They were very accurate in all three configurations.

Yea, I think they were more for the rimfire cartridges of the day. The priming was not as it is now, with 2 FP's, it was bound to fire the cartridge.

I'm pretty sure it would not make any great difference. Calfee seems to think the 6 o'clock FP offers some advantage, powder being at the bottom of the case, but I have not seen any evidence of it. It's one of the things he posts telling you about something, but not telling you much of anything.
I have just never seen a duel FP in a rimfire. When Savage went to the Model 19 NRA, there is only a single FP. I just figure it could not make the accuracy worse.

I'm looking forward to shooting it in some good conditions, I had to shoot it, but it was in the low 20's, I had to pull the cartridges out of the chamber due to the cold, I was sitting on a bench with snow upto the bottom of the bench, shoveled off the seat and had about a 15 MPH cross wind. Freezing my butt of is not my idea of fun shooting, but it gave me an idea of what the old girl would do. It was still fun, but not on a regular basis.
My Best, John K
