Looking on Craig's List has paid off from time to time. I found a Chinese 6" dial caliper that must be at least 15 years old, because of the calibration sticker on the back, that is pretty much as new, and spot on (for a dial caliper) for $15, and while that is probably a yawn the Starrett 0-6" .001 depth mic, that I picked up for $35 certainly is not. These guys buy things at auction, and resell them. The good thing is that they figure that a fast nickle is better than a slow dime. I had been looking for the depth mic. and I can always use another caliper.
