Photos of Palmetto GunClub

If all goes well we will be shooting in the World Championships in July/Aug 2011.

Can somebody please post some photos of the range at the Palmetto Gun Club. The type of BR benches that are used etc. Do they place the targets in the frames in a horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait) manner.

These small things just help a bit to form a mental picture of this place that I have never been to.

The host club has a website http://www.palmettogunclub.org/

Good information on area, lodging, layout, some pictures and others.

I will try to find out about benches, wood or concrete and orientation of the target stands.

Good links on the international website http://www.wrabf.com/

This should be a wake up call. I believe the folks at Palmetto Gun Club need to have more photos showing their great range on their website. Please don't take me wrong, but when a guest from South Africa asks about your club he should be able to get some good answers from photos on the club's website.

I believe that we all ought to look at our club's website for good photos. Someone may be planning a visit.

In one photo there are wood shooting benches...look at their 'work day' album.

Not Wood

I just received an e-mail from Craig Young that the benches have concrete tops and the target stands will vertically orient the targets. They will have a compressor at the host club and a scuba shop is ready to fill tanks, therefore, if possible, bring your own tank and, more importantly, any fittings necessary to fill both your tank and your rifle.

Many thanks for the information. Its good to know that the targets will be placed vertically. With the sighters then placed on the top and bottom rows of the targets we will be doing a lot of "traveling" up and down the targets. So we will practice some.

Gert

Does anyone know the actual address of the club? The one listed on their site is their mailing address.

Best Address

The Ridgeville Range is located approximately 2 miles from Highway 61 on Summer Road. Summer Road is a well-maintained gravel road. The range is on the left side coming from Highway 61 and is well marked with a large sign for Palmetto Gun Club.

GPS Coordinates: N32°55'43" W080°17'03"

I know I'm topping my tank off before coming. I've only got one of the large Carbon Fibers, but if everyone who is driving in comes with a full tank we should be able to handle the workload, even if a compressor doesn't appear on the scene..

Palmetto Pictures,
I emailed Frank Jarvis who runs the RBA benchrest shoots at Palmetto. He said 15 benches and sent 3 pictures.

Hope the pictures help.
I will also have two 4500 tanks filled for anyone to use.

Take it from a West Texan where our ranges are burning and we are the driest we have been since the 1890's, that is a beautiful rifle range. It has real green grass enclosed by tall green trees. It is a good place to hold an international world class shooting event.

I sure like the looks of that range! Especilly them flags just hanging straight down in the last pic! Its rare sight for me! I wonder though, is it a one-size fits all supply of wooden chairs, or are the ones shown brought that day?
