What a day it was! On Saturday the weather was almost perfect, and more than cooperative as we were given temps in the mid-70’s with lots of sun, and very moderate breezes to the point of things being surprisingly calm for Pinnacle.
We started things off by shooting IR50/50 with its infamous Sporter Class, and the strongest breezes of the day. The good thing was, the breeze was blowing in from around 1 or 2 o’clock, with only the occasional switch over to 3, and at a very constant rate of around ±10 MPH making it more a matter of having enough patience to do the job right. Having said that it still came down to a photo-finish with Al Hadfield edging me out (once again) by his higher X-count having shot a 245-11X to my 245-7X. But, I did managed to hold Al’s interest right up until my next to the last shot when I dropped those 2 points on target #24. Oh well!
Next came the 10.5# Class and the first 250 of the season @ Pinnacle. Penny Hadfield stepped up and shot a 250-17X target to take the honors with husband Al was right at her heels shooting a more than respectable 248-12X target.
To finish things off Al Hadfield stepped back into the winners circle in the 13.5# Class by shooting a 249-13X with Penny chasing close behind finishing with a 247-15X target.

All of the winners and grinners had had a good time and were very helpful with cleaning up and setting up the range in preparation for the AGBR match that followed, but were soon on their way homeward bound.
It was shortly after noon before the AGBR match got underway with only two of us, Doug Shea and myself, having stuck around to compete.
For those of you who had to missed this day for whatever your reason, let me just say this:
You have probably missed the absolute best, and most ideal conditions that you will ever have had the opportunity to shoot Airguns in, bar none, and especially when compared to any other outdoor range anywhere in the country. Now, let me add this, that’s something I never thought I’d be saying about Pinnacle Mtn.!
Doug and I were looking at extremely mild conditions throughout the entire afternoon with breezes in the 1 to 3 MPH range at most, and were sitting under a bright afternoon sun with only the occasional cloud passing us by, and with temperatures maybe hitting as high as 80° at most. Just ask Doug how quiet a place Pinnacle Mountain can be when you’re sitting there without all of the distractions and goings on of a bigger match. It was almost unbelievable, and this is my 15th years of shooting there. Only one time before have I ever seen anything like this, but that was in the dead of January on day when the sky was perfectly clear, the temperature was closer to a blistering ±7°, and the breeze was an earth shaking ±0 MPH. But, on that day, due to there being no leaves on the trees, and the air being so dense, you could hear a car door closing at more than 1/2 a mile away as if you were standing right next to it. But, that’s getting us a bit off the track, now isn’t it.
Getting back to the match, needless to say Doug and I split everything with Doug taking the high honors of the day. Both of us were shooting our UL rated Theobens, his in .22, mine in .177, with both of us using JSB pellets in their related calibers, and the overall results being:
