Passing of Merrill Martin

Sad to say, Merrill Martin passed away . He was a fine competitor in all venue and really good machines. He owned a large manufacturing Company in Emeryville Ca and had a indoor Range over the shop. He was involved with Remington in design of a 22 bullet for Match shooting. A life member of the Olympic Club of San Francisco. He is missed by all

Very sad indeed. To this day I still find myself reading his old Precision Shooting pieces.

Lee,

I do the same thing. He was part of what I think was the Golden Era of Precision Shooting...the decade of the nineties. So much experimentation going on. Moly coating, firelapping...and Merrill Martin was at the forefront. I cold called him one day with a firelapping question. Couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. A true gentleman.

God speed, Mr. Martin.

I think I read everything Merrill Martin wrote. Being the kind of guy I am, I didn't agree with most of it but there was a certain ring of truth to it all. Merrill was a good writer and wrote about some fairly nebulous stuff. If it wasn't nebulous to begin with, it was when he was done with it. I really don't think his writings were meant that way but rather how I interpreted them....

Heaven is better off for sure but we're gonna miss Merrill.

Thank you all for your points of interest. I was the Capt of The Olympic Club Rifle Team for 30 years and was lucky to have weekly contact with Merrill. Never knew what he was up to each week until we were at practice.

Cheers
