Pappas rest question

How do you "clamp" the fore end into a Pappas rest? I've tried various combinations and cannot seem to come to any conclusion. Do you tighten the adjustment against the stock so that there is no play on the off side (Delrin against the stop with spring fully compressed). Or do you let the right side float using spring pressure only to hold the fore end? If so, how much?

Perhaps James will chime in and give us his opinion too. Thanks. bob finger

It might depend on which version of James front top you have

Tighten the tension tight enought to hold your stock and but not too tight. You want the rifle to recoil back as smooth as possible. I set mine so the rifle recoils back with very little resistence. When you find the place your rifle shoots best use the lock knob to leave the top "set" in the same position all the time.
