this is a 2nd recommendation

for Hydro dip

They do a wonderfull job, lots of choices, fast turnaround, etc

Check out their website for lots of pictures.

I have a second gun there right now getting done. Takes about 2 weeks.

I just had my Jeep in the body shop and while it was there I had them paint my Kelbly BR stock the same as my Jeep. Looks nice but they got a lot of paint down in the action recess that took some cleaning up. Cost me $40.

I painted mine for about 12 bucks. :D

Painting a stock.

That depends on how fancy you want it. There is a complete set of instuctions on the 6mmbr.com site.
You can also go to an automotive paint supply and have them make you up some spray cans with a good brand of automotive paint.. single stage will work fine. It just takes some work. The other option is to pay a pro for a a paint job. Guys who paint motorcyles tanks do a great job and are
reasonable . many are artists. It just depends on what you want to spend.

Many years ago I experimented with a camo job on a scrapped very light colored birch wood stock, no more grain or color than a popcycle stick so it was no loss as far as looks went.

Instead of painting I decided to try something that would allow what little grain it had to show up. I had a number of laundry markers of various colors handy so I duplicated the pattern of my NATO woodland camo on the wood.
It looked pretty good, the green seemed to bring out the grain best, but I never got around to putting a final finish over it. I'd planned to spray on several coats of semi gloss clear urethane.

What kind of a paint job do want done? There are "B"enchrest paint jobs, tactical jobs, varmint/hunters-in-the-woods jobs, factory jobs, camo-combat looking jobs, and the high end fancy knotted wood jobs. What type rifle do you have and what type of shooting do you do? Do you want to fit in with your fellow shooters or look like the odd ball in the group? You might want to answer these questions for yourself first. Some "B"enchrest paint jobs can set you back a pretty penny and some can be reasonably priced.

Brain Fart

I was once against Painted Stocks, due to the probability of the stock getting knocked around and the paint would be damages. Suddenly, I had a brain fart and had two stocks painted so wife and I could have matching pair. Now I remember what I dislike about Painted Stocks. Dammed thing got damaged within a week. They screwed up the bedding area, and the stock got heavier. Go with the Hydro Dip Process, as if it gets chipped, it's usually just skin deep and you can retouch the Clear Coat with out a hassle. Also adds less weight.
