Outdoor, above ground Tunnel, need suggestions

Want to build a hip roofed or gable sytle shooting shed 50 or 60 yards long. It will be enclosed just like a tunnel.

1. might use a 8 x 8 shed type gable truss (or hip roof but gable is cheaper?)

2. then use a 4 x 4 treated post on both floor ends to support the structure off the ground.

3. use 3/16 oriented strand board(cheap plywood) for the sides, and 1/4 or 5/16 OSB for the roof or maybe some type of corrogated plastic sheeting for snow and light transmission.

4. since I may use trusses then I need to place a thin flooring so I can walk down the inside,

5. thinking that the 8 foot wide is enough to place a shooting shack on the one side for a cement bench and cleaning area, and area to put guns when not in use. Then on the other end use a earth berm to stop the projectiles and hang targets.

6. not insulated for winter as cost too much,

I think for $ 5 0 0 0 this can be put together, I live on a quarter section and have a approved range already so not an issue.

thought on construction please.

thinking I shoot through a window frame of about 36 by 48 so the 8 foot wide building should work, but need thoughts on mirage and construction

thanks

How many shooting benches are you thinking about?? Now & maybe Future?
With that I could give you a lot of things to consider.
Always think about the future & not limit yourself with orginal design!

That's not a tunnel, that's a long indoor range, which is better than a tunnel!

Homer Pearson at Champions Choice in TN had one with TV cameras and automatic Target (Butcher paper cut into short rolls) Paper. I'd bet he still has the plans and I'm sure he still has the concept in his head...

Here's our Indoor Range in Griffin GA.

Good Luck.
