Want to build a hip roofed or gable sytle shooting shed 50 or 60 yards long. It will be enclosed just like a tunnel.
1. might use a 8 x 8 shed type gable truss (or hip roof but gable is cheaper?)
2. then use a 4 x 4 treated post on both floor ends to support the structure off the ground.
3. use 3/16 oriented strand board(cheap plywood) for the sides, and 1/4 or 5/16 OSB for the roof or maybe some type of corrogated plastic sheeting for snow and light transmission.
4. since I may use trusses then I need to place a thin flooring so I can walk down the inside,
5. thinking that the 8 foot wide is enough to place a shooting shack on the one side for a cement bench and cleaning area, and area to put guns when not in use. Then on the other end use a earth berm to stop the projectiles and hang targets.
6. not insulated for winter as cost too much,
I think for $ 5 0 0 0 this can be put together, I live on a quarter section and have a approved range already so not an issue.
thought on construction please.
thinking I shoot through a window frame of about 36 by 48 so the 8 foot wide building should work, but need thoughts on mirage and construction
thanks
