Other Precision Competitions and Equipment Used

Not Benchrest per se but I found it interesting to see what other parts of the world are using in their accuracy disciplines...

This is a part of the world dominated by Steyr & Air Arms followed by Anschutz, Walther, and other brands like Feinwerkbau, Walther, Weihrauch were also present in minor numbers....
There were very few US MADE guns being Rapid Air Weapons (RAW) the only brand used...

Five of the US competitors used Steyr, other shooters used RAW, TX and Air Arms and some others shot UK made springers...

You can see the winners list on the first link and then go to the second link and see the equipment used.

Anyone has a list of the equipment used in the recent Benchrest World Championship for posting it here?

Could the paucity of American brands be explained by the fpe limits that the UK imposes?

The limit in the UK is 12 ft./lb. (About 800 ft./sec. with an 8.4 gr. pellet) and this power level is what LV (Light Varmint) is all about here in the USA and in other countries..This power level is widely shot in both: Field Target and Benchrest around the world, it is considered the only class shot in most countries and the "Standard" class in other countries like the USA where other power levels are shot...USA made 12 ft./lb. guns are very common inside the US in BR & FT circuits.
In the USA we all shoot HV with up to 20 ft./lb and even an "Open Class" with more power, but these are by no means international categories given the restrictions that you mention in the UK and other countries that prevent these classes from being shot there.

In my very particular perspective 12 ft./lb. is the class where anyone would want to excel for the sake of being able to compare results and compete with the rest of the world but this is another topic...

US shooters using non USA produced guns is understandable for springers, but I wonder what is going on with PCP's not only among US Field Target shooters participating in world championships, but within the entire FT community around the rest of the world...Unfortunately I don't know any of these US shooters for asking them, but I hope that if any of them reads this post they will engage and illustrate me and others who don't know the answer. Hopefully somebody will post the equipment used for the recent Benchrest world championship...It will be interesting to compare equipment used in FT vs. Benchrest and find out if there are some preferences/differences given the fact that both are accuracy dependent disciplines.

The list is only what competitors booked in with to use 12 months ago, know at least 30 who have changed equipment since booking in. Just the Fens and Anchutz i done 18 of the 33 used. Think the main criteria for US using Steyr is theyre good out the box, parts easy to obtain any where in the world and easily serviced. Though Anchutz and Fen now do a sub 12ft/lb they need hell of a lot of work which is an unknown variable factor on each rifle, skies the limit and being dearer than a converted 10M rifle. Know nearly every US and Canadian shooter on the list, some have dealt with for 20 yrs or more, also met a few prior to the Euros and at the Worlds. Theres an ex reigning US champ making a come back and i am trying to help him do an Anchutz 10M 9015 action but may be too much for him to do. Powers not the problem theres many other factors often ignored that will come to light shortly having had and used one for 8 1/2 years sold 3 1/2 years ago know them inside out and backwards. 12ft'lb is also the WFTC recognised max limit plus theres International sub 12ft/lb BR to 100 yards a few US attend.
