Optimum Pellet Velocity

I'm a bit confused about pellet velocities. Somewhere I read that wadcutter pellets are at their best accuracy wise when shot at about 600 fps velocity.

And somewhere I have read that Diablo shaped pellets are best accuracy wise when shot at about 750-800 fps.

In my own experience with Air Arms PCP airguns, an S400MPR-FT and two S400SL-XTRA, one being .177 caliber, the other .22 caliber, I find wadcutters and semi-wadcutter types are not accurate at all and diablo pellets like to be shot fast. I seem to get the best accuracy when velocities are 825-950 fps or faster and that JSB Exact Diablo Heavy and Jumbo Heavy when shot fast give me the best accuracy.

What say you all, what is your experience? What pellets do you shoot and at what velocity to get the best accuracy from your airgun?

Comments please!

the velocity optimum on the wad cutters was in reference to match guns at 10 meters. It has been said for a long time by the ft guys that the dome head will out preform the wad cutter at extended range given the same velocity. That noted a wasp waisted pill is not the best aerodynamically.

pellet velocity

my usft with 10.3 jsb heveys indoors likes 865 fps outside 920 fps. less wind
drift. i shoot field target also with a 20 fp limit. so i stop at 920fps.
