Open Grove Results 2-27-11

We had our regular 4 shooters today. Temp underneath the firing line 30 degrees, with light to moderate switchy winds. The wind machines ran all night into the morning. We even had soft snow fall 8 miles away yesterday. Brian shot a blistering target 247-15x with his AA in the 12fpe class. He was clean until the last 2 bulls, I bet next time he will be more patient. I tried the 10.3 JSB's the first card and switched back to 8.3 JSB's for the remainder cards. Overall it was fun, cold for us, simply put, it was what it was.

Joe,
Thanks for posting. Great scores. Will have to get a 12 fpe gun to get some scores in on

the east coast.

Would love to see a picture of your EV-2. I know what the AA SL 400 looks like.

Great job guys. I think that Joe Fredrich guy is not from this planet or the BS is in session.......who in their right mind would believe stuff about a new bbl, corroded pellets he picked up in the yard, not weighed, first time out..... etc etc..........yea.... right!

AND where was LD?........ WASN'T HE GOING TO SHOOT WITH YOU GUYS TODAY?

Man, oh man, those conditions sound all too familiar for some reason. I mean, here we are not only shooting on opposite coasts, but you guys are way south, and it sounds almost like we were at the same range ...that is other than for the couple of feet of snow sitting out on our range.

Great shooting all the way around. And I agree with Paul: we're just going to have to get us a couple of 12 ft/lb guns going pretty quick. I know I've been considering a few different ones for a while now, but haven't pulled the trigger on ordering one yet.

Paul,
I need to purchase a camera, the old one is not working. The EV is on the pyramid air website, to make weight I'm not using the cheek piece. It's using a 3" plate on the accessory rail.

Shadowalker,

Your right I'm not from this Planet, I was born and raised in California. As far as the new barrel is concerned, you have to season it like you would a good piece of beef. I put the barrel in the freezer for a week, then bake at 350 just like baking potato's, this has to be done 3 consecutive times. The barrel is then put in the ground for two weeks, you have to plan this part just right, you need rain, wind and damp evenings, during that time I use it as a flag pole. After this process is complete I use .22 cal felts with HBN to coat the bore for a nice even finish. I feel it tightens up the bore on these rim-fire barrels about .001

I agree on weighing and sorting of pellets when shooting at 25m, but then again it doesn't take long to check and weigh for peace of mind. I have a friend of mine store some pellets in his tackle box when he makes trips to deep sea fish, the pellets come back with that nice white coating on them, kind of reminds me of another product I use on my tumbled, weighed and sorted pellets, this is actually a cheaper way of
doing it.

I Know Larry will shoot here, there is still enough time.

Dave,

I agree, kind of strange. My brother called me Saturday early evening and stated it was snowing at his ranch, had a hard time believing it myself. I know it snowed in parts of LA, but watching the news later that evening they mentioned what other areas were seeing was considered soft snow. Didn't know there were different kinds of snow. Oh well, you folks will like the 12fpe class their fun to shoot. Best of luck to you gents.
