On 700s and similar...clearance between shroud bore and cocking piece cylinder?

When it comes to fine accuracy, I believe that striker assemblies are important, and that they function in a consistent manner and with the least possible vibration and drag. Toward that end, what do you think about the idea of creating more clearance between the larger bore (the one that houses the cylindrical part of a Remington cocking piece) of a bolt shroud and the cocking piece. I seem to remember reading a post by Speedy on this, perhaps in Facebook.
