While doing some more SS windflag research, I came across this interesting little tid-bit.......................
Not only did Mr. Bill Calfee participate and log a very respectable 3rd place yardage finish at SS #5, it seems he forgot to tell us that he returned the very next year and logged a 9th place yardage finish out of 211 competitors in the Sporter gun class at SS #6.
This poor, wo-is-me, I am not a very good centerfire shooter is beginning to smell a little fishy.
I wonder how many big centerfire competitions he was involved in over the years and is hiding from us. If his rimfire buddys find out about this they may just dis-own him for going over to the dark side.
Points of interest for SS #6, at Kelbleys facility;
1. 211 Sporter competitors, 279 Heavy Varmint competitors.
2. $16,780 in total prize money (maybe thats why Bill decided to return).
3. There were a few individual windflags at this SS #6, but it was hard to pick them out of all the dandoline growth on the shooting range, makes you wonder if George K. could afford a lawnmower back in the old days (good attachment#c photo of the shooting range field and windflag situation.............nothing like todays shoots).
