Hi guys
Dan's input on slow twist was very informative . with the new Jsb monsters and beast pellets being longer do any of you have any input on how fast is too fast for them .? I'm trying a 1/24 twist barrel to shoot them in Hv and open.
Thanks
Linzie

Linzie. They are a little more bullet like than the normal diabolos and so may rely a little more on spin and a little less on arrow/drag for stability.
How fast is too fast? ... An LW 1:16 in ? on a TM1000 shot the 13.4 gr Monsters very well at around 18 fpe 770 fps 577 rps 34,620 rpm. Your figures for that 1:24 inch barrel and power would be 385 rps and 23,100 rpm. I doubt it will be "too fast" but neither do I feel it will be too slow. It will be interesting to see if it does better at higher velocities or lower velocities or has little preference. That will tell where it stands.

Unlike our full barrel rifling, the ST barrels can give different spin rates for different weight pellets from the same barrel tune. This is possibly because the pellet's momentum on impact with the rudimentary "rifling" at the muzzle will be different and so the slippage may vary. I have seen very tight 50 yd groups with a .22 ST barrel shooting 25.4 gr Monsters. From memory the spin rate was something like 1:74 inches but I would have to check that. I think you will only know by shooting and it will be worthwhile trying from near 20 fpe down to 15 or so with your .177 (if that is the calibre). You may be pleasantly surprised. ... Kind regards, Harry in OZ.

OK Linzie, I was interested in your project.
Have you put it on the backburner or do you have something to report? ... Regards, Harry.

Just waiting for parts , I have the test gun setup for the extreme Benchrest match which it just won and when it get back I should have my .177 lilja barrel and block which I'm going to put on it so I can have way more fps and shot count to test with . I'm also test the ,22 lilja with monsters and on that gun . We have lots of adjustability on this gun on hammer weight and transfer port adjustment so covering the range of fps and Valve duration is easy . Should have results in a week or 2 .
Thanks
