Unclear on bullet ogives

A 30 caliber 7 ogive bullet would have a 2.156" measurement
A 10 ogive would have a 3.08" measurement.

Not sure on where the 2.156 and the 3.08 is measured to and from. Would that be the radius of the circle if the ogive of the bullet completed the circle?

Another way of asking, then I can figure it out = which one is pointier?

Just trying to understand, when people talk about different ogives, what they are actually talking about.

Ogive shape

Ogives don't have to be circular. For example the Postell bullets popular for black powder shooting have a parabolic ogive which has a continuously increasing radius from front to rear. There is no limit to possible bullet shapes.

Robert F. McCoys book "Modern Exterior Ballistics" has an section which discusses drag and stability vs ogive shape vs velocity. Meplats and boatttails are also discussed. What is certain is that there is no "best shape" for all applications.
