Official National's Schedule of Events

Garrett,

This looks great. Can you provide more detail on the power testing procedure?

Friday May 2nd: Sight in and practice all day. MANDATORY: Between 0900 - 1900 pick up your packet at the range club house (first right after entering the range), and rifle weigh-in, and testing.

Saturday May 3rd: 0630 to 1530 Matches.

Lunches will be served most of the day with gourmet lunch trucks.

Sunday: 0645 to 1530 Matches. Viewing of targets will be distributed at the banquet hall prior to the dinner. Awards, raffle and an exquisite dinner will be held at Las Sendas Golf Resort Vistas Pavilion at 5pm-8pm.

Matches will be 20 min, followed by 20+ min in between matches.

Sunday’s times may be extended well into the evening for the raffle and awards. If you are trying to determine what days to fly back home or depart, we strongly recommend planning your flight for Monday.

We want to make it a relaxed and very fun event for all, but also keep things moving.

We will work diligently to try and make your shooting experience pleasurable and non stressful as possible.

IMPORTANT: It is the shooter’s responsibility to ensure your equipment meets the qualification standards for entry. This includes but is not limited to; rifle weight, features, and FPE regulations. If your equipment falls outside of the rules during the match, you will not qualify for placement and you will be listed as disqualified (DQ).

If during the testing phase at packet pick-up on Friday, it is discovered that your equipment doesn’t qualify for the class requested, you may be placed in a class that accommodates your rifle. No refunds.

Please check your equipment carefully before arriving.

Testing

We are referencing the 2013 rulebook.

E.8.9 Air Rifle Power Check Procedure

Air Rifle power to be checked before the match so there should be a suitable chronograph system
available at each event. Common Handler & Natermann sport pellets or similar to be used. A
sequence of 5 shot to be measured by a chronograph. As “effective power” will be considered the
speed media value (converted in joule) noticed by the tool. Air Cylinders to be filled at maximum
charge before test.
To verify the real power of the 16.27 Joules (12 ft/lbs) or 27.12 Joules (20 ft/lbs) maximum Air Rifles [also for USARB OPEN]
must be tested by the following procedure;
.177 Match Pellet of 4.50mm in diameter and 10.65 grain in weight must be used [and 22 cal]
= max velocity of 712.50 and energy of 12 ft lbs
15
WORLD & EUROPEAN RIMFIRE & AIR RIFLE BENCHREST RULES 2012-2013
= max velocity of 919.55 and energy of 20 ft lbs
.20 Match Pellet of 5.00mm in diameter and 13.27 grain in weight must be used
= max velocity of 638.20 and energy of 12 ft lbs = max velocity of 823.77 and energy of 20 ft lbs
.22 Match Pellet of 5.51mm in diameter and 21.14 grain in weight must be used
= max velocity of 505.55 and energy of 12 ft lbs = max velocity of 652.70 and energy of 20 ft lbs

Caveat - If there is a consistent problem with testing using standard pellets above – due to poor light/
heat or another issue that may affect the chronograph - the competitor can elect, with the match
directors permission, to have the same test procedure (as noted above) but using their own pellets,
which will be weighed.

There has been a lot of discussion regarding 2013 vs the 2014 rule procedure for testing. We will adhere to the old set of rules for this match.
