We had a really great day with fog, fine mist and drizzle, and mild breeze, (though shifty, as usual). New course records were set today!
I would say the wind was less than we have had this year for other match for sure! It accentuated the old saw "don't shoot when the wind stops", because several of us got caught out by strange hits when we shot when the flags dropped!
Anyhow, we had yet ANOTHER tie for first, making it around the third in two years! Well, not a true tie because carried to the fourth digit, Matt Saenz beat me by two ten-thousandths of an inch in the match overall aggregate calculations, but I'm only going to the third digit in official use!
We had a couple new shooters from down South, Casey and Eric came up to sight in their guns on the FT range, and decided (were goaded into) shooting BR with us! Eric was using an underlever springer, making it more tedious due to lifting the gun off the rest each shot, but did good for his first time! I think Casey shot airgun BR one other time at the SD range not so long ago.
It was fun to shoot in such calm conditions, but it WAS shown that even fairly mild breezes that shift quickly can catch you up!
We had a nice lunch, with burgers grilled by Maestro Rich W. plus some really delicious Tamales he brought from his own secret local source. Some fruit, chips, and beers topped off a fine day of shooting!
Anyhow,
Heres the results:
Name trgt 1 trgt 2 trgt 3 30 group aggregate
Matt Saenz, .242, .397, .382, .340"
Larry Durham .392, .276, .354 .340"
Roger Lovett (.22) .411 .383 .474 .473"
Roger Lovett (.177) .556 .730 .399 .561"
Casey Robertson .921, .765, .753 .813"
Tim Donaldson .843, 1.06, .716 .871"
Rich Woods 1.258, .703, 1.150 1.03"
Eric Ailor 1.477 1.11 1.25 1.279"
The course of fire was ten three shot groups per target card, three cards for the match, for a total of ninety record shots. Groups measured ctc.
edit: Matt's third card score was wrong, now fixed .... total was right already, my misteak
