October Temecula 50 yard airgun BR match results,

We had a really great day with fog, fine mist and drizzle, and mild breeze, (though shifty, as usual). New course records were set today!

I would say the wind was less than we have had this year for other match for sure! It accentuated the old saw "don't shoot when the wind stops", because several of us got caught out by strange hits when we shot when the flags dropped!

Anyhow, we had yet ANOTHER tie for first, making it around the third in two years! Well, not a true tie because carried to the fourth digit, Matt Saenz beat me by two ten-thousandths of an inch in the match overall aggregate calculations, but I'm only going to the third digit in official use!

We had a couple new shooters from down South, Casey and Eric came up to sight in their guns on the FT range, and decided (were goaded into) shooting BR with us! Eric was using an underlever springer, making it more tedious due to lifting the gun off the rest each shot, but did good for his first time! I think Casey shot airgun BR one other time at the SD range not so long ago.

It was fun to shoot in such calm conditions, but it WAS shown that even fairly mild breezes that shift quickly can catch you up!

We had a nice lunch, with burgers grilled by Maestro Rich W. plus some really delicious Tamales he brought from his own secret local source. Some fruit, chips, and beers topped off a fine day of shooting!

Anyhow,

Heres the results:

Name trgt 1 trgt 2 trgt 3 30 group aggregate
Matt Saenz, .242, .397, .382, .340"

Larry Durham .392, .276, .354 .340"

Roger Lovett (.22) .411 .383 .474 .473"

Roger Lovett (.177) .556 .730 .399 .561"

Casey Robertson .921, .765, .753 .813"

Tim Donaldson .843, 1.06, .716 .871"

Rich Woods 1.258, .703, 1.150 1.03"

Eric Ailor 1.477 1.11 1.25 1.279"

The course of fire was ten three shot groups per target card, three cards for the match, for a total of ninety record shots. Groups measured ctc.

edit: Matt's third card score was wrong, now fixed .... total was right already, my misteak

Thanks for posting the pictures Rich.
Great Groups everyone! You can keep the rattle snake. During our match
yesterday a flock of turkey's noticed we didn't shoot too well. Decided to
distract us.

Fun day...weather on cool side, some drizzle and,as usual, light wind increasing/switching as day went along...each match brings something new with wind to figure out....we had more wind shifts from left than I remember from prior matches..

The rattlesnake was up at target pit to LD's tunnel....probably after mice I've seen in the pit...??

Wow,

Turkeys, that really neat! Also, you had NO wind! I can only hope one day to see our flags ded like that for an entire leg!

Larry,
At Holbrook durning setup very little wind. We can't start shooting until 9:00 AM. Like clock work the wind starts. Yesterday had no dominant wind condition with gusts 20-30 mph very switchy conditions. You couldn't get 2 shots off with the same condition.
Some more Turkeys

We have the same issue with wind ... it doesnt begin til later in the morning, usually after 9:00, and REALLY blowing by noon. Nice turkeys! We have quail running around, but no turkeys.
