We held the 4th Annual Tom Miller Memorial match yesterday at Salem. This was the first year we held the match as an IR50/50 event. Tom was the guy who convinced me we could run matches at Salem, and even in his late 70's, he was there for every work day and meeting to get ranges built at 2 different clubs. Tom passed away while practicing at one of those ranges 4 yrs ago, and he is missed by everyone who ever shot with him. I would much rather have him sitting at the benches with me than run a Memorial match in his honor. The TMM match has always drawn a good crowd, and yesterday was no exception. Tom's widow, Joan was at the match, along with his daughter Kim and son-in-law Gary. Joan handed out the trophies, and I'll have some pictures to post soon.

Conditions for the match were very nice in the morning, sunny, mid 70's, fairly calm but tricky winds. The wind picked up and was more switchy in the afternoon, with some rumbles of thunder in the distance, but no rain. We had 12 shooters in attendance, and greatly missed some of the regulars at the TMM.

The State Championship saw Ken Henderson, Penny and Al Hadfield all agging 747, with Ken's 51 X's giving him the win. Dan Gibeault took UL-1 with a 250-18X. Ken took UL-2 with 250-16X and Al won UL-3 with a 250-14.

It was Penny's turn in the Regional, winning it with a 748-44 agg. She also won the Overall Agg(Not an official IR50/50 award), shooting five 249's and a 250 on her way to a 1495-91X agg. Bob Raide made the trip out from Penn Yan, NY and had a good day, winning UL-1 with a 249-16x and UL-2 with the highest target of the day, 250-19X. Dan Gibeault took UL-3 with a 249-15X.

Thanks to everyone who came out and shot, and for all of your help. A special thanks to club member Don Caldwell for spending the day with us to set up and cook lunch.

Todd, thanks for a good time yesterday, as well as your much appreciated hospitality Friday night. A good time was had by all. It was good to see old friends again, as well as meet some new.

A big congratulations to wifey... imagine, only dropping 5 points in a total of six targets! She is still staring at her cord of wood! :D

Todd - Thanks for the effort you put into making this a very enjoyable match.

Congratulations to the winners! It was a real learning experience to shoot the same conditions with you guys. Sometimes I just couldn't figure out what the heck the wind was doing, but those with the experience knew how to work it.

Penny, you were amazingly consistent throughout the day, as the wood shows.

The lunch was good and the people were great. Todd, I am so glad you finally won some wood at the Tom Miller Memorial Match. :D -- now there's only your nemesis "250 at Pinnacle Mt" ...

Best,
Michael

Geese Michael, I wasn't going to mention that thing to Todd about Pinnacle as I know he needs no more reminding! Plus, I think I may have already beat that horse to death!

To all my friends who got togethet for a great day of shooting yesterday: Congratulations!!!! And to Todd, thank you for being such a good frient to Tom, and for putting these matches on in his memory. Joan sure looks great in the photo above. I only wish I could have been there to say "hi" to her in person, as well as to help out with all the festivities.

Penny, you sure did great! And, just imagine, taking home the highest of honors by winning the 6-Gun Agg., whether official or not, and doing it without a single first place finish. I guess having your best be a second place finish isn't all that bad after all if you end up kicking everyone else's butt.

And Al, I'm glad to see that you could grab ahold of another First Place 250 as well. It must have made the ride home a little more tolerable.

Ken and Dan, hope to see you both before too much longer. Oh, and Dan, remind Todd that Holbrook hosts indoor AGBR matches throught the winter on the first Saturday of each month with the next being Saturday, September 5th. Maybe the two of you could hook up to make the trup over. I know I'll be there, that is other than for when I'm having my kees done.

Good shooting to all, and to all a good night, :p

Todd,
Good shooting everyone. Lots of 250's. I hope to make the TMM shoot next year.
I came close to shooting my first 250 at Capital City but one shot didn't plug in. I was happy with the 19 X's. I did win 3 Targets and John won 3.
I was surprised that he lives a couple of miles from my camp! and another shooter less than a mile away.

Congrats to all the winners and to everyone else who made the trip.

It's great to see all the 250s. We're having a tough time getting them in Maine, but having a good time anyway.

Todd,

Thanks for the time you devote to holding the matches at Salem. Congrats on your first TM trophies. We enjoyed the match and seeing some of the shooters we don't get to shoot with very often.

Penny, you done good! Must have been a pleasant ride home!:D

Ken & Cherie

Congratulations!!!!! Penny, Ken And all the winners. Some great scores from a great match. Congratulations to all!!

Even ole Dan:D

Thanks all...

These were such close matches...we all finished just a point or an X apart...it made for a challenging and fun day! I was very surprised and happy to win the Regional, even though I didn't win a single target! Todd you did incredibly well...competing and shooting a 250 while running the match so smoothly! Thank you! We'll be back! Penny
