Once again the TRRC Outdoor Season has begun.
Nine souls ventured out on April 12th to TRRC for the First TRIAD OBR (Three Distance Outdoor Bench Rest) Match.
The weather was cool air but sunny and beautiful 54 degree skies and NO Washington State Liquid Sunshine at all.
Caesar stopped by to see how much fun we were having but had other more pressing tasks at hand. He will be joining us soon and is presently in the Research and Procurement Stage right now.
Winds from everywhere making wind flags do 360s always makes the challenge of deciphering how much adjustment and when to move the Point of Aim made the match a constant changing game! Wind Gusts at Harveys Bench were recorded with his machine at 9.3MPH!!
But John Calhoun knows what it’s like to shoot in near hurricane winds and got that calibrated eyeball of his working and made it to the podium with a 1160/07x for the win. I should have never sold him that EV2...
As you know we use ONLY .177 caliber pellets and under 20FLB Rifles or Pistols and use ONLY .177 Plugs for all scoring here in the PNW. Our Matches are a three distance variety match, hence the title TRIAD. The course of fire is 64 Shots at 50 Feet, then 64 Shots at 25 Yards AND THEN the final target of 20 Shots is at 50 Yards. All targets are a larger single circle with a 1/16" smaller circle in the center as the "X" and scoring is Go or No Go with "X" count as a tie breaker. Shoot 100% inside the outer circle an receive 10 points. Cut the line and you get nothing!! Obliterate the small center circle for an "X".
That gives us a possibility of four winners, one at each…..50 feet/25 yards/50 yards/Match Winner.
Award is only presented to the Match Winner.
Match Winner - John Calhoun (1160/7x)
At 50 Feet - John Calhoun (580/6x)
At 25 Yards - John Calhoun (500/1x)
At 50 Yards - John Calhoun (80/0x) Tied with John Mickle and Harvey.
Outdoor Scores aren't like the ones achieved Indoors but always FUN!
John Calhoun - 580/6x - 500/1x - 80/0x = 1160/7x
Terry Cooke - 560/4x - 460/2x - 30/0x = 1050/6x
Mark Burns - 550/10x - 440/5x - 20/0x = 1010/15x
JD Dodge - 470/2x - 470/2x - 50/0x = 990/4x
Dave Brown - 490/4x - 390/2x - 70/0x = 950/6x
John Mickle - 480/3x - 370/0x - 80/0x = 930/3x
George Sharrett - 430/5x - 350/2x - 20/0x = 800/7x
Harvey Gertson - 320/1x - 290/3x - 80/0x = 690/4x
Steve Parks - 170/1x - 370/1x - 70/0x = 610/2x
Sue used my NIKON and took all of the pictures today and did an excellent job. I think we have a new photographer in the group although she is "In Training" to become a shooter, as well.
Afterwards John Mickle, Terry Cooke, Harvey Gertson, Dave and Carole Brown, Susan (my Sweetie) and I adjourned to Red Robin.
There is NEVER a Bad Day Shooting!!!
