Air Gun Shooters,
The January 25, 2014 match had a real nice turnout with fifteen air gunners.
This was the fourth of six matches of this Fall/Winter Indoor Benchrest season at CCRP.
The temperature indoors started at 36 degrees and went up to 43 degrees during the match.
The Golden Cuspidor sat on Mark Burns’s bench during this match since he was the December 2013 Match winner with a 998 – 65x score.
JD Dodge, under the auspices of NWA-BR, presented two caps for membership in the “CCRP 1000 CLUB” (shooters that have shot a perfect 1,000 out of a possible 1,000 score at the CCRP Indoor Benchrest Matches). The caps were presented to JD and Mark Burns.
Overall scores were down a little. Maybe the shooters were thinking too much about the Seahawks and the Super Bowl.
The top 4 shooters were only 8 points apart.
There were three targets (two shooters) with 250 out of 250.
There were eleven PCP rifles and four Springers [all Springers were Feinwerkbau (FWB) 300s].
The Match Winner was Mark Burns with a score of 998-74x. Hey, that score looks familiar but different “x” count.
Mark usually shoots left handed but at this match he again shot right handed using a different bench. Great shooting Mark. (Hey Mark, you can go back to shooing left handed anytime). Harry Rayment was First PCP with a 993-50x score. Second Place PCP went to new shooter James Hills with a 992-46x. James was one of two shooters to shoot a perfect 250 out of 250.
Nice shooting James. Third Place PCP went to Bob Gribble who shot a 990-46x.
New shooter Charles Stahlheber came north from Vancouver, WA to try our match. Glad you made the trip Charles. Hope to see you at future matches.
Bill Quick was First in the Springer Class with a 984-44x. It took longer to determine who was Second Place in Springer Class since Harvey Gertson and Walt Schumacher had the same score and “x” count of 976-37x. The 2nd tie breaking rule is to look at the shooter with the best score on the first Target. Darn, they were still tied with a score of 243. The 3rd tie breaking rule was then the shooter to have the first “x” miss on Target #1 was the loser. Walt finally won to take Second Place Springer Class and Harvey Gertson with Third Place Springer.
Brycen Hills improved his score by 182 points over last month. Brycen shot a FWB 300S. Nice going.
Shooters Equipment:
Mark Burns shot an Anschutz 8002 and Qiang Yuan pellets. Harry Rayment shot an Anschutz 2002 with maybe Nygord pellets. James Hills shot an AA S400 MPR with RWS R-10 8.2 gr. pellets.
Bob Gribble shot an AA 410 with secret pellets.
Bill Quick shot a FWB 300SU with RWS R-10 pellets. Walt Schumacher used a FWB 300S with JSB Express 7.87 gr. pellets.
Harvey Gertson shot a FWB 300 Tyrolean stock using Qiang Yuan 8.2 gr. pellets.
Mark Burns will be the holder of the Golden Cuspidor at the February 2014 Match.
Big Thanks to Bill Quick, Walt Schumacher, JD and John Mickel and who did the scoring.
Also thanks to the Shooters themselves for attending.
Hope to see you all next month.
Harvey
