The October 19, 2013 match had a good turnout with thirteen air gunners. This was the first of six matches of this Fall/Winter Indoor Benchrest season at CCRP.
The temperature indoors stayed between 42 & 46 degrees during the match.
The Golden Cuspidor sat on JD Dodge bench during this match since he was the March 2013 winner with a 999 – 71x score.
Overall scores were close. Great shooting by everyone. The top 6 shooters were only 7 points apart. There were three targets with 250 out of 250.
There were eight PCP rifles and five Springers [the Springers were all Feinwerkbau (FWB) 300s]. One PCP shooter shot for practice.
The Match Winner was Bill Quick with a score of 995-60x. Bill was shooting a new (to him) Anschutz 8002. Great shooting Bill. (Who said can’t buy the top spot)
Gerry Smith was right behind with a 994-57x to take First Place PCP. Second Place PCP went to Michael Edwards with a 993-54x. Third Place PCP went to Dave Brown
who shot a 989-65x. Dave’s “x” count was the highest of the match but some ‘9’s crept into his score. Harvey Gertson was First in the Springer Class with a 988-54x.
Walt Schumacher took Second Place Springer with a score of 985-45x. Jim Benson took Third Place Springer with a score of 970-37x. Jim must have had gremlins adjust
his rifle during the break between target #2 and #3 since this first two scores were both 249.
New benchrest shooter Fran Huntington shot a decent score of 965-28x with a FWB 300S. If Fran finds the right pellet he should do well in Springer Class.
Harvey didn’t shoot that high of a score until January 2010 (he started shooting this target in October 2008)
Shooters Equipment:
Bill Quick shot an Anschutz 8002 and RWS R10 pellets. Gerry Smith shot an Anschutz 2002. Michael Edwards shot an USFT with JSB Heavy. Dave Brown and JD shot
AA EV2s and JSB Exact 8.4 gr. pellets.
Harvey Gertson shot a FWB 300 with a Macarri Tyrolean stock using JSB RS 7.33 gr. pellets. Walt Schumacher used a FWB 300S with JSB Express 7.87 gr. pellets. Jim
Benson shot a FWB 300S with JSB 7.9 gr. pellets.
Bill Quick will be the holder of the Golden Cuspidor at the November 16, 2013 Match.
