Air Gun Shooters,
The third of six CCR&P Air Rifle Benchrest Match of this season was a great success with twenty air gunners showing up to test their skill and maybe some luck.
The Match started on time and went smoothly. Mark Burns had the “Golden Cuspidor” sitting on his bench during the match since he was the November 2014 match winner with a score of 1,000-64x.
The temperature at the range started at 44 degrees and went to 48 with no rain, expect for Ron Hanson where there was a roof leak in his lane and he got to shoot through some rain drops. Rumor has it, that the rain affected his 4th target score.
According to Harvey there must have been some atmospheric condition that affected his pellets and overall score.
Ted Miles brought snacks and Harvey came with donuts. In addition Carol Brown came with her delicious brownies. Thank You All!
There were some close score between shooters. The top two shooters were one (1) point apart as were the third and fourth shooters.
There were four perfect 250 out of 250 scores shot at the match. They were shot by Mark Burns, Bob Wilgus, Dave Brown and Bill Quick. Fine shooting.
There were eight 249 out of 250 shot by Mark, Burns, Tim Wilson, Terry Cooke and John Calhoun.
Bob Wilgus, a new shooters at this event, shot a 992-46x with his Springer. Glad to have you at the match. New competition in Springer Class.
Mark Burns was the match winner with a score of 996-58x. Mark left a little room for someone to beat him. This was Mark’s eight match win. He is close to JD’s record of nine. There has been 37 Matches with the current target.
1st Place PCP went to Tim Wilson with a 995-51x (Tim just came last month to these matches). Dave Brown took 2nd Place PCP with his 991-43x. Third Place PCP went to Terry Cooke with a score of 989-36x.
In the Springer Class Bob Wilgus was 1st with a 992-46x. Nice going Bob. Second Place Springer went to Harvey Gertson with a 967-20x. 3rd Place Springer went to Walt Schumacher with a 935-19x.
Equipment:
Mark Burns shot a TM 1000 with AA 8.4 gr. pellets at 1015 fps. Tim Wilson shot an RAW BM 500 using AA 8.4 gr. pellets at around 77800 fps. Dave Brown shot an AA EV2 using JSB 8.4 gr. pellets at 890 fps. Terry Cooke shot a TM 1000 with JSB Heavy pellets at 900 fps.
Bob Wilgus shot a Feinwerkbau (FWB) 300S using JSB 7.33 gr. pellets at 590 fps. Harvey Gertson shot a Feinwerkbau (FWB) 300 with Tyrolean stock, using JSB 7.33 gr. pellets at 630 fps. Walt Schumacher shot a FWB 300S with JSB Express 7.9 gr. pellets running 585 fps.
Mike Hadley and Brian MacDonald scored the targets during the match. Larry Balestra (rim fire benchrest aficionado) came by and helped with the scoring during the match. After shooting Terry Cooke joined the scoring crew. Dave Brown recorded the scores. Sue Vogel and Carole Brown organized the scored/recorded targets. Great work everyone and a BIG Thank You.
Thanks to Sue Vogel and Carol Brown (maybe others) who took photos and the Shooters themselves for attending.

As a side note we also had the largest turn out for chow after the match. I hope this is a participation indicator for next years activities.

Harvey,
Congratulations on another well attended shoot with some excellent results! I'm impressed by the variety of power levels being shot at your matches: anywhere from 5fpe to 20fpe with the results all falling into the same mix.
It's good to see Larry Balestra's name once again. I had shot IR 50/50 with Larry back in the day at Kay C. Young's range at one of their Nationals, then followed his successes with BR 50 Airgun, especially when he set a new, and I believe still standing, BR 50 World Airgun Record. He's quite a guy and I always wished we could meet up again someday. But, there are simply too many miles between here and there for that to ever happen again, so say "Hi" to him for me.
I look forward to your next report.
Dave Shattuck
