Air Gun Shooters,
The October 18, 2014 match had an excellent turnout with nineteen air gunners. This was the first of six matches of this Fall/Winter Indoor Benchrest season at CCRP.
The temperature indoors stayed in the low 50 degrees during the match.
The Golden Cuspidor sat on Mark Burns’s bench during this match since he was the March 2014 winner with a 1,000 – 74x score.
It was noted that Mark had won four consecutive matches and Harvey suggested that someone take up the challenge to keep Mark from winning his fifth in a row.
There were some close scores between shooters. Two shooters had five targets with 250 out of 250 between them.
There were sixteen PCP rifles or pistols and three Springers. Three PCP and one Springer shooter shot for practice.
A father and son came out so the son could try shooting. John Mickel let the son shoot his rifle during the match. Don’t have his name so saying John had a Designated Shooter (kind of like baseball).
Sue Vogel (the only Female today) made her debut into Bench Rest Competition today and did very well.
The Match Winner was Bill Quick who shot a perfect 1,000 out of 1,000 with 70x. Fantastic shooting Bill. Bill is only the third person to shoot a 1,000 score in the 35 matches since October 2008. There has been only four 1,000 scores. Mark Burns was close behind with a 997-74x to take First Place PCP. Second Place PCP went to John Calhoun with a 994-44x. Third Place PCP went to Gerry Smith who shot a 984-48x.
Harvey Gertson was First in the Springer Class with a 978-39x. Walt Schumacher took Second Place Springer with a score of 958-29x.
Shooters Equipment:
Bill Quick shot an Anschutz 8002 and RWS R10 pellets. Mark Burns shot an Anschutz 8002 and Qiang Yuan pellets. John Calhoun shot an EV2 with JSB 8.4 gr. pellets. Gerry Smith shot an Anschutz 2002 and Qiang Yuan 8.2 gr. pellets.
Harvey Gertson shot a FWB 300 Tyrolean stock using JSB RS 7.33 gr. pellets. Walt Schumacher used a FWB 300S with JSB Express 7.87 gr. pellets.
Bill Quick will be the holder of the Golden Cuspidor at the November 15, 2014 Noel Vaughn Memorial Match.
