Nostalgia Class :)

Was just thinking, why not have a nostalgia class of rifles. No 6ppcs or 30 br or custom actions, just trued and or sleeved factory actions in .222 or one of its derivatives, 6x47 .308 or one of its derivatives. Lets even add a 2 1/2 in wide forend. This would sure drag out a lot of old stored away rifles!
Just to be clear, I don't think this would work but I can't help but think it would be fun.:)

Heck, I think it would be a HOOT..!

Drag out the ole Iron's... I'd drag out my SWEET Hart 40x .222 ... Love that ole Rig.!

Count me in..!

You're right, it would never work. We've been there, done that. Remember the original HBR?? Same idea only different.

I would vote for it but the sad fact is,few would support it...The only chance would be some type of once a year event ran the day before a registered national in my opinion...

Don't go so fast. We need to lay down some rules. Weight, caliber, stock width, scope power, type of rests, targets, just for starters.

I'm being a little facetious, as you can probably tell. But, "fun" stuff usually starts out as fun until someone decides that Fred has an advantage with his "almost a Benchrest rifle" and we need rules to restrict him. Before you know it, we have one more Benchrest class. ;)

I think that rules would have to be laid out before hand, but maybe keep this match non registered. For all the older shooters who have one or younger ones who inherited one it would be a way of trying it with less pressure. For all those who just like to step back in time "it is just for a kick". Maybe once a year. 13.5 pound limit 36 power scope limit 3" wide forend as I think this is how a lot of them were made, unless we go all out to heavy bench??
Again, just thinking out load(or in print):)

some 15 years ago.A friend of mine inherited what we think were 1950's benchrest rifle's, big heavy wood stocked rifle's with big , what they called 1.250 bulls on them in like 6mmAI ect. 222mag.
one of them had a full 26" 1.250 on it and the throat was real bad in it, so he had the chamber cut off and rechambered in the old 6Br rem chamber(.262NK) 1.520 oal.. Now it was a reworked mauser action that was just as smooth as silk with my guess a 8oz trigger and i have seen it shoot many one hole groups and i have shot it also. you would not believe it was a mauser action. My guess was it weighed @18 pounds or so..and were set up to shoot over sand bags. He inherited them from his farther and he also got all the sand bags. they stcked them up and pounded the rifle into them and just shot em like that. it was fun shooting them, he has since moved to virginia and i have not seen or talked to him in a year or two.from pictures we were guessing they were 1950's BR rifles. One had a very nice looking black walnut stock,I would say they were 3" wide forearm kind of flat on the bottom but rounded sides.I'm sure he still has them but i spoke to a friend who said he hasent been shooting too much since he's left,
