NorthEast Regional Championship Results

We had a low turnout for this years NorthEast Regional but that didn't stop us from having a great time. Conditions were just about the best you could hope for both days, mid 80's, light winds and bright sunshine. We shot a FT match Sat. morning then USARB LV and Open 25m Sat. afternoon (looooong day!) followed by HV/BIPM and Open 50y today. We used the WRABF target for the 25m matches and the IR50/50 rimfire benchrest target(1/4" 10 ring) that the WRABF 50m target was modeled on for the 50Y match.
Our small group of regular shooters, Paul Bendix, Dave Shattuck, Bill Day and myself were joined by Matt Lababedy and Doug Miller from California (Matt flying in just for our match and Doug coming from visiting family 1.5hrs north of here in Vt.) and my friend Steve Brookhouse, a rimfire BR shooter who made a return trip to Salem for the NE Reg. after winning the 50y match last year. Doug and Steve didn't have any air rifles but we scrounged up enough equipment for them to shoot, thanks to Rick Ingraham for sending a few scopes for us to use, Fred Blank for letting us use his front rest and Paul Bendix for lending us a set of rings to scope one of the rifles. We were able to run just one relay for all 4 matches.

Here are the full results in the order the matches were shot-

All in all it was a great weekend catching up with old friends, and we'll do it again next year around the same time of year.

Sounds like it was a great match Todd, a little good weather always helps.

Mr. Bendix 750 31x, what more can you say !!

Should have the May/June BIPM results up tonight.

Brian

Todd,
Thank you for running such a great match! You did a great job all the way around - even though on Saturday by matches end you were about on your last leg. The conditions were all we could have ever asked for, the camaraderie was outstanding, and the food and drinks were good and plentiful too. Even though I had said I thought this would be my last big trip to any shoot longer than an hour or two drive away from home, when next year comes I’ll bet my name will be tied to one of the benches and will appear on the results list. Can’t wait!

Paul,
Nothing more can be said! To see one of the finest people there is, in shooting or elsewhere, accomplish what you did was simply outstanding in every way. Congratulations on doing what the rest of us can only look up to. Of course, now you’ve set the bar so much higher, watch your back (cause that’s where we’ll all be standing).

Matt and Doug,
It was great shooting with the both of you again, and I hope it works out that next year you’ll both be able to make the trip once again. And Doug, next time please try to bring Vipha along as it’s always more fun when there are different faces in the crowd.

Brian Kelly,
Thank you so much for your more than generous BIPM contribution to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winners of the Postal/HV Class, and that 1st place money sure felt good going into my wallet, but sure didn’t take long to go back out once I got home and told my wife about the weekend. :D:D:D

Until next year,

Dave Shattuck

Think yourself lucky. I mentioned to my wife we were holding a BIPM competition close to Nice, France in September………..big mistake. After eight years she's all of a sudden interested in benchrest shooting

Brian

That sounds like fun! But, better you than me my friend.

Congrats to all the competitors. It's nice to see Mother Nature give you a great weekend to shoot for your Regional.

Paul, your 750, awesome shooting.

Happy to see Matt and Doug make the trip. Congrats Matt, with your LV win.

Regards,
Joe

Todd,
Thanks for running the North East Regional again this year! Great to see Doug and Matt join us!
I was lucky this year with the weather conditions and Dan Brown along with Mark Normindin were unable to attend. If they shot my 750 would have been for third place.
Great food and a Great Time! Thanks for Peter scoring on Sunday.
Heading off to Maine in the morning. Thanks for all the Well Wishes on the 750. Did I mention with Chip Smith SUMO, Dan Brown Regulator, Dawson' trigger and a Kreiger barrel, it shot JSB 18.1 out of the tin!!
And Stocked by Todd Banks.
Next year will have a legal Thomas LV or HV.

Great shooting everyone!
Brian I will donate my third prize BIMP winning to help pay for this shoots medals. Will paypal it to you.

Don’t worry about it Paul, go and buy those grand-kids of yours a big bucket of ice cream, tell them it’s from England via Ben & Jerry :D

Congratulations Paul! Great Shooting!

Also a big congratulations to Dave on that very nice AGG!

Way to go my friends, Al

Super shooting Dave and Paul. It is a good thing the miss's made me go to NS, I would have got my butt kicked in Salem had I gone!
Dan

Thanks both Al and Dan for the congrats.

And Dan, I think I've heard that your "getting your butt kicked" comment before. No way my friend cause if you had been there, and your gun hadn't broken, it would have been your weekend all the way, especially with the conditions being what they were. In fact, several times over the course of the weekend both yours and Mark's names came up as would have been potential game-changers (I speak for myself as yes, Paul would have kicked both of your butts ).

Both of you were missed, but glad to hear you and the "miss's" had such a great time on your trip north.

Dave
