We all know that the match directors are dedicated, committed and selfless types. Without them, organized competition would be a fantasy. I had the honor and privilege of meeting one of the most generous match directors on Saturday. We have had several conversations on the phone starting with his question of whether he could do this on his own. Yes, he has done it and with the help of many friends. A sanctioned club, regular matches and sponsors that donate prizes. Now, they are planning a regional event for the early part of next year. This is what air rifle benchrest is in many areas of this country, 2 or 3 folks getting together, playing this game and having a good time. Then, it blossoms into something very special.
If USARB ever decides to do a Man of the Year, my nomination goes to Al Litecky.
I had a great time, was thrilled to meet a wonderful group, that included one extra competitive lady and one young man who had never heard of Frank Borman. On a separate note, I embarrassed my new gun and learned a bunch of new things in the process.
Haven't posted in a while and promise I will not make it a habit but this needed to be said.
